That's why I come to AnandTech... To a certain degree, there's "safety in numbers," but I've found that anything that has 100+ reviews there, I've already heard about here, so there's not much point. Maybe it's just me, but most of the negative reviews that are let through are ones that make the reviewer look like an idiot. I know for a fact that I have written intelligent reviews with balanced positive and negative content that have just not been posted at all (one for a USB CF reader that was so shoddy in design that the CF card could not even be inserted without taking a pair of pliers to the plastic faceplate of the reader). To those who pay attention to Newegg reviews, you can trust them if you like, but it's certainly not a wise thing to do.Originally posted by: TankGuys
True, but then again, have you noticed how filtered those reviews are? It's extremely rare that I ever see a negative review about anything on there, and seeing as how I'm in this business, I know for darn sure there are many people out there who are never satisified... so it's very disconcerting how biased all the reviews are. That alone made me disregard them years ago.Originally posted by: AmberClad
I think part of the reason is also that NewEgg is one of the few stores that has a rating/review system for products, and with the amount of traffic they get, there're usually a fair amount of feedback to base a purchase on. Hell, even if I find a better price elsewhere, I still might go to NewEgg to check the product's rating before placing an order at the other place.Originally posted by: TankGuys
Just consider this for a second: Anytime people post links to a particular product on this forum, what website do they usually point to? Newegg is the ubiquitous mega-mall of computer parts.
A non-filtered and unbiased review system would be great though.

Athlon 64 4400+ = $729 + Out of stock
@Tigerdirect = $$629
Athlon 64 4000+ = $475
@ZipZoomFly = $380
Athlon 64 3500+ = $246
@ZipZoomFly = $230
Athlon 64 3700+ = $323
@ZipZoomFly = $278
Maybe Newegg just hates AMD...I don't get it.

I only use Newbegg to read reviews, never to buy. They really do overprice.
You do know that most bad reviews are censored and taken away and only good reviews are left posted right?

Newegg has been going downhill for the last few years. Pretty soon, prices will be so bad that not even their A+ customer support will save them

Newegg is overpricing, for whatever reason. The other companies listed, Tigerdirect and ZipZoomFly, are not bad companies either. Sure they don't have the 9.4 on ResellerRatings, but they are above-average and many people can back that up. Also, if Newegg is trying to get rid of the old processors, don't you think the other retailers would be doing the same as well?
You never can be completely sure what is driving their pricing structure. Maybe Newegg placed a 1000+ piece CPU order last month based on bad market info and the others waited. It also always takes pricing samples from 2 or 3 competitors for anyone to make this argument. Take Newegg vs. Tigerdirect or Newegg vs. ZZF pricing across the board and see if your statement still holds. It all comes down to the chicken/egg question. Are they good because they're big or are they big because they're good. It's a free market and that's what makes it great.

Newegg NEVER has HOT deals, they always just have decent prices, however their service is second to none.

Doesn't matter to me. Newegg is definitely the best place to go for comptuer parts, hands down.

Whereever its cheaper I am buying it , simple as that.
Granted if its withing a few dollars I might by from a more well known site but I have bought almost every peice of this PC from a diff. vendor and not one problem at all (except my mobo not being in stock for a while but that was EVERYWHERE).
