Athlon 64 4400+ = $729 + Out of stock

@Tigerdirect = $$629

Athlon 64 4000+ = $475

@ZipZoomFly = $380

Athlon 64 3500+ = $246

@ZipZoomFly = $230

Athlon 64 3700+ = $323

@ZipZoomFly = $278

Maybe Newegg just hates AMD...I don't get it.

you found newegg out!!! Yes, they do in fact hate AMD. Judging them based on their prices for a few CPUs seems a bit odd. It also seems ridiculous that people would HATE newegg because of their prices. If these people don't like newegg they should shop somewhere else. I buy some things from newegg.com but also from outpost.com, zipzoomfly.com, mwave.com, amazon.com, etc. I don't hate any of them if their prices suck. If a store's price on something I want sucks I buy from someplace else. how hard is that?

Newegg I think is the Dell of online shoppers. They may be more expensive, but the customer service is supposed to be worth it. At least that's better than the Microsoft of online shoppers. Can you imagine that?

I have always been satisfied with the service and shipping at newegg. 99 out of 100 times the factors in my purchase are reliable and shipping speed. The actual price of the object only comes into play on rare occassions. I find newegg to be a good place to shop.

Last year their revenue increased from $735M to over $1Billion, a 35% increase. I don't think Mr. Chang needs to worry about trading in his 127-foot yacht for a tiny 80-footer just yet.

why newegg, you should use ncix.com, every item you click on has it's own messageboard/mini-forum and it's own reviews from customers

To the people saying "If you don't like it, just shop somewhere else!"

Duh. Of course I do that. It's just that for the past few years, Newegg had been the last word in great service and greater pricing. They're starting to become like their competitors now

Add this to the list: Chaintech S1689 MOBO socket 939 = $69 ..Same at mwave.com=$49

Most probably Newegg is getting a lot of RMA's defective products that cant charge restocking and thus losing $ on them. So they have to adjust thru. new sales.
My take.

From my experience Newegg shipping and reliability is somewhat better.
Usually I compare prices at pricewatch.com and if Newegg is close to the lowest
price I go with them.

Probably I've done half my computer upgrades with them this year.
Skipped them on video card, cpu, and heatsink but got good deals
on 19" LCD and PS.

They are good at getting you the stuff fast and reliable.

I agree with many of the posts here. I remember as recently as a few months ago...you didn't really need to shop around to get the best prices. Newegg was pretty much a one stop shop for all you PC parts/component needs. You might have paid a few more dollars here and there for various parts, but overall you did pretty well to buy everything from there. But going back and reviewing my last 10 purchases, I don't think any of them included Newegg. I've bought from ZZF, Monarch, SVC, Outpost and Dell. I'm guessing that this is because they've had significantly better prices than the "Egg".

Screwegg? Hardly. Wile I admit I had to go over to Monarch to get my X2 4400, I purchased the rest of my system through NE. On average, their prices are better than most. I can live with paying a little more to get it all at one place with great shipping speed and customer service. From now on, I'll probably be shopping around more for my individual part purchases, but for a large order, I'll probably end up going with them again.

maybe that is to cover all the losers who send parts back after they burn them up trying to overclock them.

The Reason that I use Newegg is... I trust them. Their prices are better then local prices, The customer service is Great. Some times cheaper is not always better. When I buy from them I know I will get what I expect in a timely manner.

I think newegg is great - I buy lot's from them. It always pays to compare prices, but one stop shopping for big orders can be a big advantage and maybe worth a little extra. Generally, I find the pricing to be pretty competitive. The availabilty, order efficiency and fast shipping make it a great place to put together and order parts for a new system.

its not only their pricing, but their shipping charges that piss me off. A stick of RAM and a fan will cost you $10 in shipping. :roll:

See, the people thinking that Newegg is better because of relatively low prices and one-stop shopping, that's how I used to think too. Back in the day, you didn't go anywhere else for computer parts. Nowadays, places like Monarch, Zipzoomfly, and Tigerdirect are offering much more competitive prices, and it makes you wonder what happened.

Again, I'm not hating on Newegg, not entirely. I've been 150% satisfied with all my purchases from them, the most recent of which was an extra 1GB of RAM. But in recent days, it would seem that they're starting to droop. I hope they pick it up.

To be fair, the shipping charges on larger items are much more reasonable, and often cheaper than other sites (e.g. shipping on most cases is only $15.99, whereas it can be $20-25 or more for a big case at some other retailers; if the shipping is cheap, often the item is more expensive).

They've also started doing scaled shipping costs with small items like fans; yes, you pay $5 shipping/handling if you buy *1*, but if you buy 10, you're only paying like $1 each (still high, but not as ridiculous).

Other than the actual postage costs of shipping something, most of the packaging/handling costs are independent of the size of the item (someone has to go get it from the warehouse, assemble the box, package it, double-check the invoice and mailing label, etc.). If you ordered *just* a single fan, they'd probably be losing money on the shipping if they didn't charge you at least $2-3.

Yup. Have you bought any cables or flash memory from them lately? More times than none, the shipping will be more expensive than the product!

the shipping prices are high if you order just cables or just ram etc. but that's why when I order from them I either order multiple items or if I am just ordering one item it would have to be a motherboard or case or something relatively big. again, that's why you should shop around. for cables or fans I tend to buy local just because it's not worth the shipping costs.

As far as I'm concerned, I think Newegg jumped the shark right about when they did the site redesign(and no, the design wasn't what did it, it's just a good way to mark when it happened). Ever since then, they simply haven't been fantastic any more.

Newegg is still the first place I go to look as they ship ridiculously fast (2 days tops with regular ground shipping). Depending on where you live, there prices aren't bad. As I live in california, monarch ususally ends being cheaper as I don't pay sales tax then.

The problem is that NewEgg uses D&H as distributors and right now D&H is in VERY VERY short supply of higher end Athlon 64's, and very very very short supply on the popular X2's. Short supply = higher prices. That and it was only Monday this week that D&H lowered pricing on the Athlon X2's since their introduction.
