BS. I ordered 75% of my parts from ZZF and got them within 2 days, free shipping. Compare that to PAYING for 3-day shipping from Newegg.

ZipZoomFly is the new egg.

Newegg plays games with shipping charges. Zipzoomfly does not. Newegg has become the one-stop shop for people who are just barely savvy enough not to buy everything from the local chain store at full MSRP but not savvy enough to comparison shop online. They probably tend to read print magazines the likes of MaximumPC as well. All this makes them think they are "1337" but really makes them "1337 n00bs".

I usually get parts at about the same speed from both ZZF and Newegg, since ZZF's processing time is generally 2 days and Newegg has a warehouse in NJ (sucks that I get taxed though).

speaking with the newegg.com customer service, they are aware of the shipping bugs and they are working to correct it without sacrificing the speed of which an item comes off the shelf, packaged, and shipped. With such a huge selection of items, new items being offered everuyday and old items being phased out, I don't blame them for wanting to take extra time to make sure this problem goes away for every item's shipping.

I recently built a system and bought most of it from Newegg. I did find a couple of components cheaper (one from Techonweb and one from buy.com). I went ahead and bought the two components else where. I saved a total of $40 and spent over an hour looking around for lower prices. $40 is not worth my time, when it is 1:00am and I have to get up at 5:00am for work. I did another build two weeks later and just bought everything from Newegg without looking around for cheaper prices.
Works for me...

I wouldn't use them for reviews that's for sure.
They only put up the positives

Everyone always says it is three day shipping, and it might be for them. But I have ordered about $5,000+ worth of items from NewEgg and they always get here in two days shipping with Express... I guess Mineapolis, Minnesota pwns you all

its not only their pricing, but their shipping charges that piss me off. A stick of RAM and a fan will cost you $10 in shipping.

To be fair, the shipping charges on larger items are much more reasonable, and often cheaper than other sites (e.g. shipping on most cases is only $15.99, whereas it can be $20-25 or more for a big case at some other retailers; if the shipping is cheap, often the item is more expensive).

They've also started doing scaled shipping costs with small items like fans; yes, you pay $5 shipping/handling if you buy *1*, but if you buy 10, you're only paying like $1 each (still high, but not as ridiculous).

Other than the actual postage costs of shipping something, most of the packaging/handling costs are independent of the size of the item (someone has to go get it from the warehouse, assemble the box, package it, double-check the invoice and mailing label, etc.). If you ordered *just* a single fan, they'd probably be losing money on the shipping if they didn't charge you at least $2-3.

I ran across an extreme example of this yesterday. At Amazon.com. I wanted 8 ink cartridges for my new Canon printer. $8.15 each, a great price. However, they charge shipping for each item. Consequently, while the 8 cartridges would have cost $71.16, the shipping would have been $51.11 (!). 8 x 1/2lb item = 4 lbs, 6 lbs package tops. On the flipside, Buy.com had the cartridges for $9.99 each , but shipping would have been only $11.63 (which is more in line with actual Fedex costs, plus a little profit). $91.55 for Buy.com vs $122.27 for Amazon. Guess who gets the sale?

On the flip side, I bought said printer from Newegg. 18lb package, shipped from CA to PA, $8.95 Fedex Super Saver, which arrived 2 days early. 2 days ship time for $8.95. They HAVE to be losing money on that.

I want to say this as politely as I possibly can, but when you're doing math on ink cartidges, surfing websites for 3 hours, or otherwaise being a cheap ass you really are wasting your time. I understand if you're broke, but if you're broke you should find a new job instead of upgrading your u83r1337n355 PC....

NE is becoming useless....they don't have any nForce 3 Ultra mobos anymore, they overprice, their website is unreliable, and they have started to ship a lot more DOA products than normal....

I use Newegg to read the reviews (I do use the better part of my judgement to see if they're lopsided) after which I go to either Anandtech RTPE or Pricegrabber to find the best low price/reputable retailer ratio possible. Newegg does have some parts relatively cheaper but I think another good asset of theirs is that they carry some brands that other major online retailers don't (like HIS video cards, for example, which I can't find on ZZF or Mwave).

P.S. I'm building a computer and I've bought a majority of the parts from ZZF because I've had a great experience with their shipping.
