Bejesus, if not now, when? Never has there been two humongous hurricanes in one year much less in two weeks. And we've not even reached peak hurricane season, which is late August through September.

It is mind boggling to me that the only place I've encountered discussion of the involvement of climate change in these current and developing catastrophes is here in ATP&N, not on TV news shows, not a peep. Actually, not true, I read an article by John Diaz in the S.F. Chronicle Insight section ("Harvey offers grim glimpse into climate’s future") over the weekend where he talks about it, how the science has been developing, computer modeling and how the probabilities are changing although no one event can be said to have been caused by whatever.

If they're smart they'll look at the historical record for storms and shut the hell up. 2005 or 2017 could occur multiple years in a decade and not break any trends or establish any new normal. Only a return to what was. Test yourself. When was the last time a major hurricane struck the New England area? Of course if it ever happens again it'll be blamed on CO2. There has not been a category 3 or higher hurricane that made landfall in the United States for 12 years until Harvey and Irma. It was a historic lack of hurricane activity in the United States for the last 150 years of hurricane records. Well over 4,000 days without a major hurricane making landfall in the U.S.
Back in 2005 after the last 2 major hurricanes hit the United States the climate alarmists all had a big circle jerk cheering on this particular aspect of their claim, then the long lasting drought which thankfully shut the fucktards up for awhile on the hurricane subject. Now we have 2 more major hurricanes and they're back in force making the same unsubstantiated claims and cheers and hopes they can get money, power and control from their favorite cause. Sorry if i'm not enamored with more of the same old, same old.

The only real content that I can add on climate change is that I had Mexican for lunch and a short time the later the climate changed in my immediate vicinity. Greenhouse gasses were definitely up.

4 of them during the "drought" were in the top ten most damaging storms.

Sure Hurricane Ike in 2008 was 1 mph away from being a Cat 3, had a larger storm surge than Irma, and tropical storm windfield that covered about 600 miles of coast but sure it was still a "2".

But sure Global warming isn't happening because the US was only hit by Cat 2's and below. Oh and some climate scientists turned off the AC once.
