Overclocking is like stealing from the GPU manufacturers. Why would you think you deserve vastly improved performance, without having to pay for it?

If you want your 7950 to run like a 680, you should make a donation to AMD and NVidia for stealing that extra performance.

Why are you even on these forums? You're lack of computer knowledge is glaringly obvious.

My 2 GPUs are factory overclocked 20% by eVGA. I upped them a bit more by another 15% and it has really helped with the games I play and increased their longevity.

I urgently insist... no... I *demand* that you immediately underclock your GPUs and leave them underclocked for the next three fortnights. Same with your CPU, for punitive compensation.

I think he's trolling. AMD has overclocking options in Catalyst. IDK about nvidia.

I think the downsides to overclocking modern video cards align with the likelihood of making an error. Maybe in the past you could blow up your video card, but if you are reasonably careful, overclocking modern cards seems relatively risk-free.

There are always the types who don't bother with overclocking because it's a hassle to really learn all the details to *know* that your overclock is just perfect and the max you could get that's worth the extra power/heat/noise; that sweet spot. It can take a lot of effort to satisfy yourself that it's the best, and maybe it just doesn't sit well with everyone to just do a modest overclock and leave it at that without knowing if you did enough testing to know you are at the sweet spot, preferring to just use stock performance instead of a half-a$$ overclock.

I wonder if those who are opposed to overclocking because of mysterious dangers, perhaps those are no longer current-era concerns? I mean, cards are rather idiot-resistant nowdays when it comes to overclocking...

Some of us are crazy and enjoy overclocking and finding that sweet spot. I've been tweaking my card for hours today trying to find the right voltage and clock speeds that seem optimal. Seems that 1100/1375 at 1.18 volts is the sweet spot for me but I'm still testing.
