Pasta has almost no sugar, almost no fat, and can be made with very simple ingredients. It has a lot of carbs, but they are complex carbs, so they don't spike blood sugar or make you as fat.
Along with some side veggies, it seems like the food of the gods.
Eat some nuts/beans/meat/chicken/soy in moderation for protein.
1. Sugar is not evil. Just how you ingest it or ingest it with.
2. Fat is essential for health.
3. Yes, it's easy to make. I'd recommend something like Barilla Plus because it's loaded with egg protein and has a few grains in it.
4. The carbs are not complex, whatever that means. Carbs are carbs. Sure, different carbs have different metabolic pathways. In the long run however, it doesn't matter. In fact, fructose, long considered a "complex" carb does take slightly longer to digest, but also has a terrible metabolic pathway that leads to insulin resistance, fatigue, and obesity in large quantities.
What matters about carbs:
1. Surface area. More = faster digestion.
2. Soluble fiber. less = faster digestion.
3. Other macronutrients. Carbs + oil = fatsville. Carbs + protein = good muscle building formula at certain times of day.
Spaghetti:
1. Has a lot of surface area.
2. Contains no fiber.
3. Doesn't usually have a lot of oil.
So I'd say spaghetti, especially with smothered in fructose syrup and tomatoes, is definitely not healthy.
