Apparently there is some work around to get it to work on vista 64 but it sounded like a huge pain in the ass. I didn't try it.

What is the technical reason for why it can't work in Vista?

Isn't there something about Vista locking up the lower level system calls (which were left open and abused in previous version of Windows)? I vaguely remember anti-virus companies complaining about it.

It's a pain in the ass to get it working with Vista 64...but you can do it, the forums there are very helpful.

With the newest version it is simply that Microsoft requires this (security theatre) signed driver system. It costs $300-500 dollars which isn't a lot, but for a free program...

What I did is download an ipfilter.dat file. You can load it in utorrent, and it uses a list similar to the peerguardian list.

As an alternative, you could run a VM, and do your torrenting through that.

Not at all. You run an old version of Windows with PeerGuardian In VM with Vista64.

Kazaam, you can download a utorrent blocklist here: http://blocklistpro.com/download-center/ip-filters/

afterwards, place it in the roaming/utorrent folder, for example: C:\Users\Administrator\AppData\Roaming\uTorrent

to update it, when filters are updated, simply open prefrences in utorrent, then click ok to reload the newest filter once it's placed in the roaming/utorrent folder

i believe the nipfilter is the most commonly used for torrent users, it seems to be the most downloaded filter. you can read about them here:
