Is Plex the best media server software out right now?

I keep seeing all of the people in the hot deals forum talking about Plex and how it's a deal breaker from them if a media device doesn't support it.

I love it. Just started getting into the whole streaming scene though. Played with XBMC as well. Plex works great on all my iDevices. Looking to pick up a few Roku boxes as well to use Plex.

I used to be all about XBMC but now it's all about the ease of use and centralization of Plex for me. I've been using it for over a year on different devices (settled on several Samsung BD-D5300 Blu-Ray players as Plex clients).

Assuming you can live with the Plex server running on a system, then it is very good and easy to use. No need for sorting things, it catalogues it all for you, and can stream to different devices.

Is it perfect? No, but then there isn't anything that's perfect yet. Of everything I've tried it's probably the best.

No, XBMC is best for me. I can see the appeal of Plex though. It's definitely easier to setup and use out of the gate.
