Yea you clicked a foot note congrats.

Its only like the third sentence. This is stupid.

It basically boils down to people skimming something and thinking they are experts. Because they are real world topics they are much more nuanced than that. But you guys skim and suddenly we're all experts. I'm not the one shoving links in peoples faces, FWIW.

I see multiple people linking to experts to back up their claims, I only see one person here trying to discredit the studies and claim the opposite with ZERO studies or facts of their own.

All you are shoving in people's faces is your opinion and guess what that's worth?

My only point was that I question whether Neanderthal genes can be linked to mathematical ability in east Asians over other people if the % of their genes that are Neanderthal is only slightly more than in Europe and the highest concentration is among Tuscans and I have never hear they are especially mathematically gifted.

Do you have an authority source that contradicts the article I linked to at nature.com?

Uhmm, no.

Also, while it's nice of you to speak for Africans about what they think, I was referring to the World Bank's poverty statistics on African poverty which clearly show that poverty, both relative and absolute, are endemic.

Please address post #91

eskimospy, you asked an honest question and I gave you an answer. Please address my reply.

As of several years ago the white (European-Canadian) population of Canada was approx. 76% while for the US it was approx. 72%.

In 2011 the urban area I live in was just over 46% European Canadian and roughly 52% 'visible minorities' with South Asian, East and SouthEast Asians forming roughly 38% of the total population.

Now, what was that about most [Canadian] people being just the same.

btw, our immigration rate/100,000 is roughly double that of the U.S. (5.66/100,000 compared to 2.45/100,000) and most of those do not come from Europe.

Canada defines groups in a stupid way just like the US it seems. Here is what I have found.

http://www12.statcan.gc.ca/nhs-enm/...ins&SearchPR=01&A1=All&B1=All&Custom=&TABID=1

Total Population 32,852,320
Not a Visible Minority 26,587,575

The next largest group is South Asian, which represents about 4.77% of the population.
Next is Chinese which is about 4%

The USA.
Total Population 308,745,538
Non-Hispanic White 196,817,552

The next largest group is Hispanic or Latino, which is 16.4%
Next is 12.2%

While Canada might have a slightly lower majority, it has much smaller minority groups when compared to the US. Racial frictions are going to be less of an issue, when the groups you would deal with are much smaller.

To be fair to Canada, it has its own problems.

http://www.macleans.ca/news/canada/out-of-sight-out-of-mind-2/

Terry Glavin, recently writing in the Ottawa Citizen, mocked the idea that the United States could learn from Canada’s example when it comes to racial harmony. To illustrate his point, he compared the conditions of the African-American community to Canada’s First Nations. If you judge a society by how it treats its most disadvantaged, Glavin found us wanting. Consider the accompanying table. By almost every measurable indicator, the Aboriginal population in Canada is treated worse and lives with more hardship than the African-American population. All these facts tell us one thing: Canada has a race problem, too.

http://www.macleans.ca/news/canada/why-fixing-first-nations-education-remains-so-far-out-of-reach/

So how, in one of the richest, most progressive countries in the world–where non-Native youth seem to have the world at their fingertips–is this allowed to happen? Even Ottawa has admitted Canada’s Aboriginal population has essentially become entrenched as second-class citizens. In a federal government study comparing Aboriginal communities to the United Nations’ Human Development Index, an international measure of quality of life, Canada ranked eighth, between the U.S. and Japan. The Inuit population, meanwhile, ranked 63rd, slightly better than Libya, while First Nations reserve communities ranked 72nd, on par with Romania.

So careful when throwing those stones. I know the US is a global leader in dumb shit, but its not all roses everywhere else either.

Nope, it's a matter of discipline. Not all "rich" people got their money that way, some inherited theirs (and they would be poor if they weren't so wealthy, given their spending habits), but the rest are some of the most focused people you'll ever meet in terms of finances. While it's true that many people are simply too stupid to become wealthy, any person of average intelligence can.

Its both. Many rich were "lucky" in that they made some connection with somebody who gave them a bump at some point. Many rich were "lucky" that they were born with a silver spoon. There are very very few unlucky rich.

But anyhow yes, exercising discipline is crucial, however, to build the wealth needed to have your money working for you, you need either initial capital to work with, or you need solid enough income in order to gain capital to invest. You wont become rich by being disciplined with spending on a 30K annual income.

You must not be familiar with jhbball. Look at his posting history in P&N for a quick answer.

HAHAHA

I just did, and holy crap you are right. Just dumb one liners meant to insult people, but I don't see anything to back up his statements.

"fucking hickkkkk."
"Global warming is false because I'm a republican."
"Seems like your sister is also as dumb as a bag of rocks."
"oh look, AT's fail fuck dad has opinions."
"aka talking out of your ass."

Regretfully, the Mods choose to tolerate such crap.

And then people wonder why P&N is the crap hole that it has become.

Once they opened the floodgates; they are unable/refuse to close them.

The Discussion Club was just a failed attempt to paper over the mold on the walls

P&N continues to be a cesspool. A place where democrats can get together, spread lies, rally for war crimes charges and insult anyone who disagrees with them. A place that gets republicans banned for speaking the truth and Democrats made elite for telling lies.

This thread is such a perfect example of just how stupid the people in this forum are. The OP asks if poverty is voluntary, idiots come in to blame republicans for poverty in the US, say that without government hand outs people would starve to death...all while ignoring the fact that the OP admits he is in poverty solely because he chooses not to work. But we are supposed to ignore that and debate made up numbers by shills who are elite.

Anyone that puts total blame on republicans or democrats is a huge part of the problem with this forum and the U.S. You're part of the problem, rather than pushing blame on others you should try to be part of the solution.

The problem is republicans. It is also democrats. Anyone that has made up their mind on where they stand on the issue before hearing the issue is a fucking idiot.

You complain it is a cesspool, yet you are contributing to it. Whining about the big bad opposing team ganging up and abusing your innocent, unassuming team. Yes, there are Democrats saying that there are Americans that would probably starve or greatly suffer without food stamps or government aid. But you basically make the case that OP chooses not to work, therefore the need for government aid for people = invalid. You can't presume that OP's case is the same for every American like that.

If your argument rang more like "Poverty isn't a choice for every American, but it is for OP and is likely for many on government aid" then you would have come off as being more balanced. Instead you're like "Poverty is a choice for everybody and OP's proof." Makes you look very narrow minded.
