Is Ps3 Doomed?

I have 2 at the moment, One i'm playing , the other i'm trying to sell.

Graphics are not that great. No good games. I only really play my street fighter 3 from PS2 at the moment. Ridge Racer is Lame. I dont' even see any good "Coming Soon" games on Ebgames.com

And i failed to sell my second PS3, like the rest of 300+ ebayers.

If PS3 fails it feels like the end of the world for me.

IDK not really the money, it's just that i'm gonna be bored all the time.. UGH.

Even though a C2D E6600 is more powerful than a P2, it's a moot point if you are playing Solitaire on it. While the PS3 might be more powerful, there are few games (and fewer good ones apparently) to play on it.

I have all the systems. I just want to play Nifty Jap games. My concern lies in the fact that I don't see many of those on the PS3 or coming out for the PS3.... I swore off Play-asia a while back. cuz they're clearly ripping me off.

I'm going to nab a PS3 sometime specifically for the MGS and FF games. The DMC games will be good too. You get the great RPG's and stuff for the Playstation brand and awesome Nintendo brand goodness with their stuff, but I have yet to see the point of the 360. Tons of first person shooters that would control 100 times better on a PC? Pass.

This is a completely debatable statement. Think of it as Geforce 7900GTX vs Radeon X1900XTX. They both have their pros and cons. They are close enough in performance for one to not be able to do something the other cannot.

PS3 will eventually win the war. Everyone loves to bitch right now because of the games.. the system came out a month ago! Look at the upcoming releases in the next 6 months. PS3 is going to smash the 360. I think the real winner will be the Wii. Nintendo isn't really trying to compete with either the PS3 or the 360, so they'll appeal to the largest possible market. They won't really hurt sales of either console, but they'll definitely make some good money.

The PS3's down fall is the use of Blue-ray. This added 150-200 dollars more to the end user cost and people still need to shell out another few hundered bucks for a HD-DvD player(which will over take Sony's Blue ray like VHS did to BETAMAX)


On yeah, there are aslo a lot of people still upset with Sony for their DRM/Malware infected CDs.

I think that the cost is what did it. I don't think that Joe Consumer knows too much about rootkit, but he knows that $599 is an insane amount to pay for a console, whether Sony is taking a bath on each purchase or not.

Yup sony screwed up big time. The WII is only like $250. Had Sony went with a normal DVD they could have curshed Nintendo.

The system just launched a month ago and you're predicting it's demise?:roll: It will continue to gain momentum as production numbers rise and games come out. The Xbox360 launched with numerous craptacular games as well. So did the PS2, Gamecube, etc, etc.

Good grief you guys are being silly as all get out (to put it mildly) predicting the doom of a system that came out a month ago. Resistance is an awesome game for PS3 that I've been enjoying since I managed to snag my PS3 on a fluke return to GameStop.

The FREE online community and demo downloads is nice, and the built in browser and messenger are nice touches as well. Those alone nearly make it possible to dump off my hordes of PCs that haven't seen much gaming action in months now. I'm only holding on to a gaming rig for Spore and Portal.

The user upgradeable hard drive and the ability to run linux on it is a VERY nice touch as well. I'm curious to see if they'll be able to get some good drivers for the graphics to run under linux so that wine/cadega would be viable. Then you don't even need a PC anymore, you could do it all on your PS3.


PS3 isn't going to be doomed, at least not this early on. We're off to a slow start for games, but MotorStorm coming out in a few months and adding Oblivion to the library will help.

Well, there are more uses that he'll discover soon enough.. Mod chips and stuff will let the PS3 TRUELY become the center of Home entertainment ,, with Divx and stuff. It is certainly more than capable of HD, unlike other consoles which are buggy. and for what u get , 600 is justifiable if USED to full potential..
