At worst, MS is breaking even on the 360 right now. Some company did an estimate on the costs of the PS3 and 360 and they claimed the 360 parts cost ~$70 less than the retail price of the premium.

I'd love to see the breakdown.

Show me one single PC game out now with better graphics then Gears of War. Hell, show me a single PC that cost even only $300 more then a 360 that could handle the rain level.

Your a freaking idiot... the PC in my sig has 4x the power of my 360 graphics and computing wise already..

any PC with an 7900GT or above is already shredding what a 360/ps3 is capable of..

GOW has crappy graphics.. they used doughboy looking models.. with VERY few differences just a head in most cases.. (makes limited textures not an issue for a console with 512 SHARED memory) thats also why they capped mutiplayer at 8 players becasue of limited memory and limited textures...

GoW is a marketing win.. but a crappy short featureless game overall.. and look up my gamertag CVSiN ive played it and beat it..

Company of Heroes (A freaking RTS) has better graphics on a high end PC than GoW or any PS3/360 game.. and there are MANY more..

time to trade in your 386 and buy a real PC and kick up the resolutions to 1600x1200 and beyond.

Today after going around most of the city in search of a Wii I would say otherwise.

Sales Person: "No, but we have a ton of PS3's"

That happened at BB, CC, Target, and 3 Walmarts.

a month after release and you can find them that easy? Things aren't going to be easy. They are going to have to wait for some huge games like FF13 before systems will start to sell.

GoW has similar models to what Epic has used in PC games like UT03 and UT04. They tend to make bulky, armour-laden characters. GoW has very good graphics compared to anything at the moment, not sure WTF you're looking at. Short, yes, but fun none-the-less. Also, why do you always feel the need to turn everthing into a PC/Console debate? Anyone who does this simply doesn't get it. They offer different gaming experiences. Personally, I like consoles better overall... more good games, far better variety, etc... I'll play the occasionally FPS on my PC if I'm in the mood for some serious online multiplayer, beyond that I'd rather play one of my consoles while relaxed in my recliner (with friends that are actually at my home no less!).

Microsoft has actually been making a profit off the XBox360 for a couple of months now. Manufacturing prices dropped to the ground for the parts they required (no HD DVD drive artificially keeping the price up helps).

maybe i'll get buy one again if the price drops next spring, especially if there is a die shrink and accompanying power and noise decrease.

Guess what, doesn't matter, programmers making a game for the PS3 only have one set of specs to work with, meaning, they can optimize to get the most of out the console.

Look at what the PS2 and Gamecube can do with such old tech, RE4, FF10, etc....

every time i see commercials of PS2 games, i think to myself, 'goddamn, that game looks like ass.' the PS2 has never had the best graphics (heck, the dreamcast was better when the PS2 came out), i'm not sure i'd even call them good.

then again, i don't have a PS2, though i might pick a broken one or two for cheap and see if i can fix it.

New 360s now are already significantly quieter than launch 360s. I bought one for my wife to put in our bedroom and is extremely noticeable how much quieter it is. Will be interesting to see how much more quieter it can get.

I love the ps3, and i like the 360 too but i highly doubt the playstation is doomed.....way too many playstation addicts already....the first 2 consoles sold like hotcakes and took over...at the very least, the ps3 makes it through the generation and flops the ps4, but its definitely not doomed. if anyone is scared, i would be willing to put money on the 360 becoming the DREAMCAST 2 to be honest...same kind of trend.....

If possible, I'd return the PS3s. I've seen people return them. There are no game out right now. It'll probably be a year before they get anything going... if that. The PS3 has too many things going against it, but mainly price.

The PSx exclusive RPGs are what get me. Simply put, no other console has the selection or quality of good RPGs that any competing generation PS does, save the handheld market.

I won't be returning mine. I know games are few and far between but that's what early adopters have to expect. Look at the first 6 months of xbox 360

Meanwhile I'll be putting to good use as a blu-ray dvd player especially since netflix rents 'em

If things remain the way they are, I'll probably get one around March, when Armored Core 4, Heavenly Sword, and Lair are slated to be released. If they are delayed, which is always a good possibility with games, then my purchase will be later during the year.

MS will break even in July. The Sony... who knows? This will hurt Sony.
