Is Shuttle SB65G2 a good overclocker?

I plan to spend ~$800-$1000 on system with Shuttle SB65G2, P4-2.8GB 800FSB, 1GB Dual Channel DDR, DVD/CDRW drive and wireless ms keyboard+mouse, that's it. No monitor, no hdd (already had 30GB ATA100 72k rpm) and graphic card (already board Geforce FX5600 ultra 128MB). I know OC requires great cooling but I really like the way Shuttle XPC looks compared to other PC cases. How far can I push this system with the right cpu stepping and memory based on the budget I have? Besides, can anyone tell the OC'abilty of the Shuttle XPC? Anyone had problem with the cooling issue?

When think back and look at suggestion from other OC elite, I begining to feel that $800-$1000 seems a bit waste if speed on Shuttle. But it looks great, small, compact and futuristic looking and yet powerful. Anyone disagree?

Thanks

Shuttle boards usually don't have as many overclocking options as other brands. I would go with the abit is7 if you really want to overclock. At about $103 (newegg), it has many standard features and more voltage selections than most other boards. Or read the review of the asus p4s800d-e deluxe with sis 655tx chipset on this website. Pricewatch lists one dealer with this board for about $120.

wow maybe you're gettin' old oldie and didn't read the fact he said he was building it with the SB65G2... :Q :Q :Q :Q

if you search the articles on the homepage, you'll see the o/c results with the SB65G2 and it's pretty darn good...
i was looking at getting one as well as a back up system...

BUT if you really wanna do some hardcore o/c-ing then you're better off with a board like the asus p4c800-e, abit ic7 series, abit ai7, and the new sis chipset boards that are out or comin' out VERY soon...

I like Shuttle because of compact, futuristic looking and solid quality case, and yet powerful compared to typical sized PC (looks bulky and cheap plastic feeling). Unless I found a really good looking and quality case otherwise I don't think I will ever want to go back to the ATX style... Coolermaster case still looks bulky though..

the sb65g has full voltage adjustments, fsb up to 250 in 1mhz steps and if you use Clockgen you can go higher since the clock generator actually goes beyond 250. you need to get creative with modding the case for cooling if you want to get the most out of it tho. i have a sb51g and it doesn't have any voltage adjusments, but using the wire trick in the appropriate holes in the socket, vcore is 1.7v, i run a 2.66 at 3.1, and a soft modded radeon 9500 to 9700 at 360/300. bottom line you can make these little rigs fly.

I flashed my SB61G2(i865G) with the newest bios, and my 2.6c is currently running at 13x255=3.32ghz @ 1.6v / mid HSF setting.
To cool it down, I cut out the fan grill at the back of case with a dremel, attached a 80mm to 120mm fan adaptor, and added a 120mm Stealth (53cfm/28dB) to suck air from the HSF.
So now the Stealth fan and adaptor are all outside the case pulling air, while the factory 80mm is pushing. Yet, noise level is unchanged from just a factory fan @ mid.
Load temp =44c when room temp =20c

Go for it.
My 61 has the bios flashed with the 65's bios and runs fine at 296 fsb and 1.55v on a 2.4c.

Edit: I also replaced the ICE heatsink with an Alpha 8942.
