We've gone to great lengths to create jobs to preserve our work for a living model of how to distribute goods & services. Much of the effort doesn't produce goods & services at all, putting the lie to the false scarcity that the system depends on to perpetuate itself.
What is the MIC if not a giant jobs program where we simply blow up what we make or bury it in the desert until we eventually scrap it?
What is the TSA & the rest of the security apparatus if not workfare for brownshirts?
What is the giant prison system if not an effort to create the shittiest jobs in America, being prisoners?
What is planned obsolescence & ever changing fashion if not job creation?
And yet our ongoing fervor for technological efficiency decreases the amount of human labor necessary to make the system work. Something's gotta give. We need a different way to look at it if we're to be truly sane.
