Is Socket 370 and FC-PGA mobo connection the same thing as far as hsf ?

Will a Socket 370 and a FC-PGA hsf fit each other or does it specifically have to state one or the other in the hsf specs?

The HSF for a socket 370 will work on FCPGA. The Socket 370 and FCPGA is just denoting the CPU size, which is the same.

In short, if you get a cooler that fits a socket 370, it will work for "FCPGA" types.

Yup they work i own a duron and a celeron that i have many times interchanged hsf's between the 2 just remember duron/t-birds run hotter so if its made for the AMD's it will easily take a p3 or celeron.

Just because a socket has 370 pins does not necessarily mean it's FCPGA. Older motherboard that supported only PPGA will not accept FCPGA.

Actually, the chip will physically fit into the socket 370, but depending on the chipset it may not function. I've had this happen on a BX board with Socket 370. An FC-PGA chip would go into the socket, but wouldn't run.

Are Flipchip heatsinks design to fit tighter than S370?

will, I don't mean tighter, but if you take a S370 heatsink and try to fit it on a flip chip, will the connection be firm enough?

The sinks are the same, but the optimum application point for the spring force is slightly different because the flip chip position. That is, make sure that the spring force pushes against the flip chip and not off to the side. I used my old socket 370 heatsink, but had to move the spring a notch and turn it around when I was using my old Alpha.
