Is the ATI TV Wonder series the only capture cards that have TIVO like features?

I had an AIW Radeon which had some awesome recording features (but I ditched it for a GeForce3 Ti 200). I remember that the software for my old Hauppage WinTV sucked ass in recording. But I also understand that the TV Wonder series has suck ass drivers for Windows XP.

So is there any decent capture card out there that supports Windows XP and has some sweet TIVO features for recording TV shows?

Get the TV98 from buycomp.com for $38 and use WinDVR from Intervideo's website for the Tivo like features. However if you want optimum picture quality I highly suggest the Dscaler beta.

I'd rather stick with either ATI or Hauppage if possible. What I'd really like to know is if Hauppage's software is better and if ATI has gotten their drivers fixed.

Well...

I've had both but I don't run XP I run Win2k. In Win2k ATI's software worked best with me. As far as TIVO like functionality you will need either an AIW Radeon/8500DV or a WinTV PVR. You'll pay for it either way.

However... If you choose to use either a WinTV, ATI TV Wonder, Avermedia TV98 or Pinnacle Micro PCTV (which all probably use the same Conexant transceiver) and used WinDVR or PowerVCR II it should work just fine.

Just remember that cable tuning will always suck. I recomend letting a vcr or satellite receiver do the tuning and use an S-Video cable.

Nearly all pci TV Tuners can record video to disk. Some have schedulers. A short list of tv tuners have time-shifting (records as you watch allowing you to replay something and when you are done go back to live mode. The ATI TV Wonder and WinTV do not have time-shifting.
