Is the Geforce 4 4200 64MB faster than a Radeon 9600?

Because I have a Radeon 9600 128MB in my notebook and a Ti-4200 in my main computer and I'm wondering which performs better. I'm guessing the Ti-4200.

They're probably very close. The Mobility RADEON 9600 might be a bit slower than the desktop model, which is around the speed of a Ti4200 in most applications. The 9600Pro is usually faster than a Ti4200 (between that and the Ti4600). So maybe a little slower, but not drastically so.

The 9600 will preform better, I have a 128MB Geforce 4 Ti 4200 in my computer and my friend has a 128MB 9600XT is a much slower computer than mine and he can keep up just fine. In fact his 9600 out preforms my 4200 alot of the time.

4200 is faster than 9600 non-pro without AA/AF enabled. It is almost the same in performance compared to 9600Pro without AA/AF. It is slower than 9600Pro with AA/AF enabled. Remember, often cards on laptops are even more downlocked than their desktop counterparts. VGA Charts 4 - all 3 cards you want compared (noAA/AF + AA/AF)

Conclusion, both 9600 and 4200 series cards are just too slow in today's games to even waste time comparing the differences.

Just to note, the 9600XT is considerably faster than the Mobility 9600 (which is maybe a little slower than a 9600NP).

I think the clocks are 400/600 on the 9600XT, compared to probably 200/400 or 250/400 on the Mobile 9600.

I still play WoW, C&C Generals without a problem with those cards.

I have 2 pc's. One has a Ti4600 and one had a radeon 9800. The 4600 outperformed the 9800 drastically. And the 9800 was in a faster computer with more ram.

turn on AA dn AF and watch the 9800pro cruise ahead of the geforce4 easily. i'm a nvidia fan and have a ti4400 and agree that the G$ti series is as fast as the 9x00 series unless you turn on AF and AA...and when you spend 300+ on a card you better turn on those features...

Both the regular 9800 (roughly the speed of a 9700Pro) and the 9800Pro are *way* faster than a Ti4600. I upgraded from a Ti4600 to a 9800Pro, and the difference is significant (easily 50% faster across the board, much moreso with AA/AF enabled).

Something was very wrong with your configuration if the 9800 was not faster, or you actually had a 9800SE (which is roughtly the speed of a 9600XT -- but even then, it would be about as fast as a Ti4600, not "drastically" slower).
