HOwever, if you're using a socket-thermsitor "measurement" setup, then the drops will be significnat as the new PCB makes socket-thermistor readings even lower.
They are cooler then the Thunderbird core at equivalent clockspeeds, yes. But their still far from being a "cool" running processor, and even the AthlonXP 1500+ (1.33GHz) actually puts out slightly more heat then the 1GHz Thunderbird.
