Body spray is just cheap, 'watered' down cologne. You really don't want that and neither do most women. Your buddies likely won't care so long as you aren't pungent.
That's not to say that all expensive cologne is superior to all cheap ones, but many of them tend to last longer and have a larger base of people that generally like the smell.
There are many that get almost sick from the smell of many cheaper ones...bodyspray included. 96% of women polled last year chose Polo Red, 1 million came in second. Body sprays typically get negative results. Wearing nothing at all is fine typically but depends on factors obviously, at some point on a hot day, you're likely to have a smell not too admirable.
The key...according to women polled, is to keep it light. With smells like Ambery, musk, hint of leather. Winter time go for spice, warm like tones such as 1 million by Paco Rabonne. I generally like colognes with a leather like smell personally and mist it light. Good cologne lasts all day but you won't notice it as much because you're used to it and this is why some men end up putting way too much on but don't realize it.....so anyway try that rather than coat your body in cheap smelling crap that doesn't even mask your odor later in the day when it's hot out.
