the wireless might be too heavy for your taste. I had a buddy who had the MX 700 and I played around with it but found it too heavy, so I went with the MX510. Maybe before you make your decision, you should try it out @ BB.

I have the MX Duo and it's great. I'd recommend anyone to get it. The mouse feels very comfortable and I actually prefer the heavy mouse. The only think that would make me not get it is the MX1000. =)

The keyboard batteries last forever, don't even remember how long it has been since I changed them last.

How long does the mouse charge last?

My mouse used to have a good charge, lasted up to a week as long as I wasn't using it a ton. Now it only lasts about two days which really sucks because a lot of the time I won't remember to put it on the charger at night so the next day it is dead.

Also my mouse has a tendancy to crawl to the right of the screen slowly when it is just sitting there. You can watch it move across the screen. Can be highly annoying at times.

Would still definately recommend getting it though.

Crawls to the right? You need to calibrate it a bit lol.

I would get this or the MS Optical Elite, because the Intellimouse 4.0's are pretty nice, the smooth scroll whell, and if you have enough money you can get a leather one .

the battery life on the keyboard feels like forever..I have owned this combo for several months and have yet to change the batteries in the keyboard...on the mouse..depends on usage

they recommend placing the mouse i nthe charge daily..I do not do this but do try every couple/three of days

this is an excellent combo....as with any cordless mouse battery weight is an issue..there is a weight in the mouse that can be reoved to make it lighter...Tom did this at Tom's hardware..but it will weigh more than a corded mouse, small price to pay for freedom....

I am amazed people can tell difference between the MX700 vs MX1000

Personally I think wireless keyboards/mice are utter crap, then agian I only used utter crap ones (could be all). The batteries die continuously/have to recharge em, lag lag lag lag and if you use a logitech in general, you won't have very good driver support. For example I had to work on a computer at my cousin's house and they had some logitech mice (wireless and non) and the computers were outta wack so when I came to work on them, the mice either wouldn't move at all or jittered a lot, forcing me to install everything simply from the keyboard (has done this many times but is irritating). Microsoft Explorer mice are great (my belief) because even if you don't install thier mice drivers from the CD, there is still excellent support in windows and are very repsonsive (can't vouch for wireless though). The support is so good, I can even use these mice in Windows 3.1 with out a hitch!(Obviously no USB) One more note, most ppl I have encountered don't know this but using the USB should be a last resort when using mice/keyboards since USB has a tendancy to lag apposed to PS/2 which has never lagged on in me in games/ in general.

hi,

my mx700 (part of duo) also has the problem w/ calibration described above (pointer slowly moving towards right accross the screen). would you happen to know how to calibrate the mice in windows? i would think it would be as easy as calibrating a joystik or something but after looking through MouseWare 9.79.1 and searching google i can't come up w/ anything.

any help is appreciated,
-igor

ps. just wanted to mention that the policy of banning users of certain free mail providers is discriminatory. i never use my primary address for forums and besides hotmail may be my primary one. hope this wont deter someone from answering my question.

goku2100 the mx duo is very nice combo is it perfect no..but if you hate wires like me it is nearly perfect..I found no reason to install any drivers for it at first..but I found Thief 3..would not allow me to scroll menus right..installed mouseware 9.79 and everything is OK...I love the combo

Cordless MX Duo works great. Had it since it came out and not a hiccup yet. The only think I don't like is that when grub2 loads, the wireless keyboard doesn't work, so I have to use a second keyboard to select my OS.

I hate the idea of whats leaving my keyboard going through the air before it hits my computer... considering all of the stunts ive used keystroke recorders in.... I think it would only take one nearby geek, a little bit of code and an mx700 base station to really really ruin your day....

I was in the same position as you six weeks ago - don't get the Duo. The MX510 mouse is a much better mouse and can be had for $30-$50. Get that and any decent $20 keyboard to make your own 'Duo'.
