Linux newbie here. I've recently installed Mandrake 8.2 and am starting to like Linux more and more everyday. It's been a humbling experience having to relearn alot of things i've taken for granted in windows, but i'm getting there. I've learned alot just from doing basic things like installing programs (was trying to get LimeWire working, which involved installing a java virtual machine, took about 3 hours to figure this out ) and installing nvidia drivers (took about 1 hour to figure out and get working). Anyways, enough rambling, to my question.
I can't seem to find the task manager in KDE (if there is one). I was trying to run the Mandrake update thing, and it basicly froze trying to 'update the database for sources'. I couldn't figure out how to kill the program. I know about using 'kill %' and 'jobs' in the console, but it doesn't list the jobs running in x windows. I'm using KDE 2.something as my GUI. So... is there a way to kill non-responding programs in KDE without restarting the x-server?
Thanks in advance
