Is there a way to hide my ip address when using team speak programs like vent?

Hi,

I know I can pay to hide my ip address and that there are free options for basic surfing...

Is there a way to hide my ip while using one of the team speak programs like vent or mumble?

The reason I ask is that I heard of some person using some basic kind of ddos attack to bog down another gamers connection and that there may be other security risks when using those servers.

SSH-tunneling/proxy should work for that probably.
You just need to rent a well connected proxy-box (a low end Linux VM will probably be the best value for money for that kind of solution) and set it up.
Alternatively, you can use VPN, that will obviously work.
Of course, you're just shifting the problem the the exit-node in each case, which may have more throughput, but less CPU resources - so you can still be DOS'd in one way or another.

The right way to deal with this, is to not connect to unprotected/public servers (of any kind) where malicious users hang out.

Do you have any reason to keep your ip the same? Nonvpn, nonproxy, you can edit your mac address on your router/firewall, and you get a different ip (within your geography or whatever ip range your isp covers).
