Blair With Project is by far the crappiest "movie" (hehe) ever put on film. How the hell can they call that piece of junk a "movie"? I've filmed more entertaining and (at the same time) horrifying visits to my grandparents for crying out loud..

Nah, Moulin Rouge has too much in it's corner to be called worse than BE. Myself, I loved the movie. Saw it a few times in the theatres, picked up the DVD and the CD. I do understand that many, many people have been (and will be) disappointed by the movie. I boggle a bit when someone says it's as bad as BE (or Mission to Mars), but it's not for everyone.

Overall I liked Moulin Rouge.

There are a lot of movies that take a little work to watch that I have liked.

Memento, Clockwork Orange, Jacob's Ladder, 12 Monkeys to name a few.

Moulin Rouge was a great movie. Sure, the movie was on crack for the first 30 minutes, that's understandable. I didn't like the beginning either, it was just too...ehh....uncanny. But when the story did eventually get started, i found it to be great.

Congo is almost as bad as Mission to Mars....that was my #1 horrible movie that i thought would be good...but Mars beat it out

I have to admit I was sceptical about Moulin Rouge, which is why I didn't shell out the bucks to see it in the theater. On the advice of my good friend Amanda (a chick, by her own admission) I watched the movie. It is bizarre, but outstanding. I actually like chick flicks (I have a special love for English period pieces like "Remains of the Day" and "Sense and Sensibility") but I don't understand why this movie even gets put in the chick flick category. It's far too challenging to be written off so easily. The creators of the movie were obviously trying to do SOMETHING - its not like they set out to make a standard song and dance love story and ACCIDENTALLY made this instead. It would be worth your time, I think, to watch the movie again and look for the intentionality behind why its constructed the way it is.

A great article on the movie, which I read after I saw it, appears in this month's edition of "Books and Culture - A Christian Review." It has some very helpful insights into the background of the movie, and made it more enjoyable for me to watch it the second time. There was some thinkin' going on when this movie was made.

Battlefield Earth sucked because I had read the book, and they took big liberties with the screenplay. And I don't like cheesy movies whether they were meant to be that way or not.

I thought Moulin Rouge was pretty cool. I enjoyed the first 30 minutes of the movie. It struck a "Yellow Submarine" vibe with me, but a little more coherent. The rest of it is a Greek Tragedy like someone mentioned. I didn't know before it was mentioned, but that makes perfect sense. It was kind of funny too. John Lenguizamo is funny as Tolouse Latrec, and the 2 guys singing "Like a Virgin" had me laughing. It was entertaining and different. I could have done with someone singing for Ewan McGregor, but he did a pretty good job considering. I thought it was a chick movie too, then I decided to watch it and changed my mind completely. Movies don't have to have explosions to keep me entertained.

and BTW, Memento rocked too. Well done and well-conceived story/gimmick.

If you want BAD movie... try Freddy Got Fingered... HOLY CRAP, it was so bad... I wanted to watch Showgirls or BF: Earth to make the pain subside!

What I hated about Moulin Rouge was the music (actually the music itself was great) but it didn't fit the period the film was to have happened. Just didn't seem right to see someone dying from TB & hearing Elton John?

Would have enjoyed it more if the 1st 30 minutes was a little less over the top & the music was appropriate for the period, or new music written for the movie, not the greatest hits of the last few decades.

Seems like the critics like over the top stuff lately.
