Is there an integrated motherboard for Duron??

I want to put together an inexpensive system. I'm looking for a motherboard that has integrated video, sound and ethernet that will support the Duron 800. I did a search in this forum but didn't see anything.

I could go with the Intel D815EEAL if I use a Celeron but I'd rather have the performance of the Duron with the 200mz fsb. Not to mention that a Duron 800 is only $85 and the only listing I can find for a Celeron 800 is for $180 bucks...

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Thanks,
Mike P.

There is and it's called the VIA KM133 chipset. I recently checked Asus's website and they already have a mobo using the KM133 chipset.

VIA® ProSavage KM133 chipset The KM133 is the KT133 with built in Savage2000 2D/Savage4 3D. It also supports and external AGP4x slot (like the i815E), it has video built in implicitly, it's not optional.

Audio and LAN are optional.

There is one board made by PC Chips, and its fairly low cost. It uses and SIS chipset. Here is a little copy/paste:

PCChips M810LR, Socket A, PC266 SiS 730S Chipset, 266Mhz FSB (MATX) w/ On-board PCI Sound, 128-bit AGP Video & 10/100 Network Adapter: $134.99

This is in Canadian Dollars, by the way, so if your in the States, it should be even cheaper.

Im pretty sure OEM's are using these boards already. I saw in BestBuy and another ad that for a couple of the duron systems it said 64mb of SHARED memory meaning it has integrated graphics...

PC chips are junk! Not worth the headache they are garenteed to cause. I have built one system with a pcchips and had to fix two others and everything about them is terrible. Check out there website and you will see, it is the slowest site you will ever visit.

Asus is high quality and if your time is worth much than it is definitely worth the extra money.

Just my $.02

pc chips aren't that bad, they are even on amd's recommended list now. they've come a long way. besides the board is called amptron now. ANyways, the 810lm might be good if you get a revision 1.6 or higher. the revision 1.6 has the agp slot as optional. so if you get one with agp slot that is good. also for only $85 its a great, deal i didnt notice that it also had a built in lan card, which if you are trying to save cash will help you a lot. the problem is sis 730s chipset is slower by around 10% than the km133. plus the onboard savage4 on the km133 is much better than the onboard graphics on the 730s. if you are just building like cheapo computer lab systems i doubt it really matters, might as well save the $25 and get the 810lm over a km133 board and a lan card, and buy 128mb more ram . also the 810lm comes with a built in modem also.

I think the 810 boards are wimpy but work perfectly fine. The 815 boards are so much more expensive. I don't think either one matters as far stable functionality goes. 810 is simply for cheap and nasty systems.

I don't even wanna think about cooling a socket-A in a micro-ATX

I hope they don't give any overclocking options with those mobos, because people will be frying puters left and right.

velvetelis...

i have a socket A 1000 on a microatx. It can be done and it can be done well. I was able to even o/c it to 1100 at default, but i'm back at 1000 now, since i really dont need the speed. 1150 overheated though with the case on. My comptuer is whisper quiet too, since i used the agilent arcticooler. maybe i could have gotten up to 1200 if i had used real heatsink paste instead of the thermal pad, but i'm lazy .

i wasnt aware that the sis 730s was faster than the km 133 now. i was thinking about the toms hardware review but i guess they fixed the sis730 so that its faster now
