Count me in!!

I'm going to join folding@home TeAm Anandtech in a few minutes. I'll run for a couple of days left in November so that I can figure my ppd.

This is great!!

7. Addition of crunchers and computers to a team is allowed.

Looks like this little race is going to cost me.......................

I could not get F@H to run on either WinXP64 or one Linux64 machine. So, I'm un-joining the race.

What was the problem?

WinXP64 - had one instance of the app running for two+ days and when I checked the task manager I had 6 copies of mpiexe (one active and five sleeping) and if I terminated one, it was put right back. I didn't do the account with a password thing, so that might have been it.

Linux64 - had one instance of fah running and 4 copies of fah-something running (which appeared to be handling the cores) (there are only 2 cores on each box). That had been running for two days without completing the WU, so I removed it.

I'm now crunching Sudoku and Cosmology@Home on all 3 machines.

I'll be back doing a TAS project in January.

I've decided to just run the one instance of F@H, so my input will be around 400 ppd. If they develop a multi core system that isn't retarded let me know!

The thing that syncs the four instances is a Microsoft file and for it to work the computer must have a password

The Microsoft file that needs a password to work is mpiexe.

The SMP client always runs four cores. Sounds like it was running as it should and would have finished the WU in a few more hours for 1760 points!

I remember from the last race - patience was needed - sometimes a WU took 5 - 6 days to complete. We had at that time some program - I think it was called ElectronMicroscope (EMIII), which showed how far the crunching had come - and that helped a lot!

Has EM-III developed? Is it now EM-5 or such?

IMO FAHmon is the best F@H monitoring program!

The WUs are shorter now: less than a day - 3 days on most platforms

My rig is at my apartment, and I spend a lot of time over at my ex's. She's a single mom and needs a lot of help; I like spending time with the kids.

At this very mo0ment, I am at my apartment. I've been running F@H for about a day and a half, and it appears that I haven't completed a WU yet. When I do, how do I view my stats??

Thanks -- to anyone who can provide me withinfo.

Go to The F@H Stats page and then type in your username and team number (our team is 198)

Then you can see the results stanford is giving you. (it takes a few hours for the stat from a WU to show up)

You can also use the FahMon program I linked to a couple posts up to monitor your progress while you fold. (You can also browse to fahlog.txt in your folding directory and open the file to see what your present progress is.)

Finally, you can go to The EOC stats site and find yourself on the TeAm Anandtech list.

not finally, you can also peruse Kakao Stats for similar info.

Boy, I'm in trouble, now. Right before the TAS challenge, the wifey just figured out the electrical bill, so I can't pawn it off on "rate increases," which worked during the summer. Fellow crunchers beware!, she's trying to figure a way to rat you out to your significant others. I'm not responsible. (Though I might give her the names of the FoldingTeAm, just to give tas the edge for the comp.

Go public, in writing? Dog! You could be working for her, or the opposition, or Mark (that'd be just like him. See, I'm getting neurotic just like him, too. Nosebleeds at the top'll do that to you. Be careful what you wish for!) -- trying to get me shut down right before the December Race. You are a clever one. Curious on; not a chance.

Just started two SMP clients this evening. One on my core duo LV laptop and one on a Dual Xeon 2.8GHz. Fingers crossed, I'll be wringing lost of points out of the multicore boxen.

I also went through my pile o' hardware and found a couple of P4 CPUs. Anyone have a need for a P4 2.4GHz or a 2.26GHz? Both are 533MHz bus IIRC.

LOL, I manage the electric bill online so my wife does not see it at all. Plus I have a few PC that I turned off the LED for power so it doesn't look like they are all on!

I just looked in my rearview mirror and I see a Neurodog closing in on me!

Do Neurodog's bite or just run by?
