Is there an Xbox 360 HDMI cable?

I just got a 32" Samsung LCD with 2 HDMI, one component/S-video, one VGA.

I hooked up my Directivo to S-video (only option) and standard DVD player. I am not switching to HD Directv or cable yet, but I want to use one of the HDMI inputs for the Xbox 360.

I could only find rumors of such a cable. The other choice is to get the Xbox VGA cable and use the VGA input on the tv, but how high is the resolution via VGA?

Any input appreciated.

That's just a rumor.

VGA is the way to go for you. My TV doesn't have a VGA port so I have to use component. It's not the end of the world but its a 1080p TV and the 360 won't output HD-DVD 1080p over component.

How in the world do you have a 1080p tv without VGA? I thought it was standard. How about DVI? VGA to DVI for the 360 then

Why does everybody say this? First of all, I have a Sharp 1080p LCD; there is no VGA on it. Second of all, VGA is an analog signal, DVI is a digital signal. The HDMI ports on my TV accept digital signals only which isn't going to help.

So, VGA is higher than component? I do have the VGA Xbox cable hanging off my widescreen Dell LCD.

I have FIOS internet but really want to hold out until they offer TV. I hate Cablevision as a company.

I heard the VGA cable causes the colors to be washed out. But the image is sharper though. Go figure, I'm still contemplating whether to get one or not because i would like to have my regular DVDs upscaled.

All the posts in the official forum say otherwise.

It does 1080i over component. Also, it'll upscale DVDs to 1080i (maybe 1080p) over VGA but only deinterlace over component.

edit: The dashboard will display in 1080p. You're unlikely to get any gameplay in 1080p but I believe it would support it if the game did. The restriction on component is part of a copy protection scheme, I believe.

If I get a break from painting the house tomorrow, I will hook up the VGA and compare.

I experienced the washed out color on my LCD monitor back when my console was still relatively new (it's a launch console). Some people say that the color problem has been either fixed or greatly improved. I can't comment since I don't use the VGA cables any more.

You have to adjust your TV settings for the VGA hookup. Use something like AVIA Home Theater Guide or THX Optimizer.

Any clue what Game Mode would do on the tv? Just curious but I don't know where my wife put the manual.

Typically TVs have some sort of image processing built in to them which can add delay to the picture. I'm pretty sure game mode just turns that off so the delay disappears.

I have my 360 hooked up to lcd monitor via HD vga cable. Looks better than component hooked up to my HDTV.
