Is there any fix for mouse acceleration in OS X?

I even bought this cute Razer mouse hoping their drivers would disable mouse acceleration. Logitech drivers are useless, by the way. Never install them.

The Razer drivers even have a box for 'acceleration', but it appears to toggle between 'less acceleration' and 'a lot more accleration'. I submitted a spport ticket with Razer, but do any of you have a suggestion? For the record, I've tried Steermouse, USB Overdrive. Neither completely disables mouse acceleration, regardless of what their options imply. After a lot of testing, there still exists a noticeable amount of mouse acceleration no matter what drivers/programs I use.

logitech drivers worked great for me in mac... they were actually pretty cool. Dunno aobut acceleration though never had a problem. I was on a hack though.

I do know there is a file you can edit that has all the settings you can imagine. Well on a hac.

I have a Logitech G9 and I bought software for OS X called Steer Mouse. It's by a company called PlentyCom (plentycom.jp is their addy I believe). hope this helps.

I'm on a late 2007 Macbook Pro. Sadly, I don't get this file to edit.

Logitech drivers weren't all bad, but the dealbreaker was that it broke my VX Revolution's scroll wheel and made it do weird things like scroll down if I scrolled up too slowly.

As for the other suggestions, thanks, but if you read the opening post I mentioned how neither completely remove mouse acceleration.

The point is that I didn't like the Windows default mouse "feeling" either, so I disabled acceleration altogether. If there is some way to completely disable mouse acceleration in OS X, it would feel exactly the same.

I feel your pain. I tried a number of applications, tweaks and just about every forum recommendation I could. In the end, the only app that gave me the feel I was looking for was SteerMouse.

These are my settings:

Tracking Speed: 1.0
Sensitivity: 150

I have absolutely no acceleration issues anymore. I have no idea why you still would, did you try tweaking the settings or leaving it at default?

I did indeed try tweaking the settings. I couldn't get rid of it. I might try reinstalling and trying your settings though. There's absolutely *zero* acceleration for you?

Fun fact, apparently (according to support), the Razer drivers worked in 10.5.4 and broke from then afterwards. Weird.

Yep, none. Now, of course, your experience may be different due to the mouse your using (I'm assuming). I'm using an Apple Wireless Mighty Mouse. When I first had it, the acceleration was absolutely ridiculous, I found it to be near impossible to use and resorted to the trackpad on my MBP instead.

After SteerMouse, I can confidently say it's as close to using Windows as possible and my only gripe is that of double clicking -- but that's related to the Mighty Mouse itself, and is another boon for another day. I use my setup for lots of Photoshop and Flash work -- I need it to be as precise as possible, and the acceleration just won't allow that (since I'm not used to it).

I can confirm that a Microsoft mouse w/ installed drivers behaves like it does in Windows.

I switched from that to a Razer without knowing the consequences, had to switch back.

When you say "behaves like it does in Windows", do you mean no acceleration or the default Windows mouse acceleration.

I guess I might have to return this mouse...

I was just fiddling with the mouse that I have hooked up to my hackintosh, and I don't know if it is the hack or what... but the mouse felt no different in Windows vs OS X. This is a logitech VX Revolution with default drivers on both OSes (so no logitech stuff). I find that it screws up too many things that I have to tweak if I install the logitech stuff in OS X.

I was using a VX Revolution before. In Windows, I have mouse acceleration disabled, but with Logitech drivers in OS X, it doesn't seem to work fully (and has other issues). No drivers just means acceleration that I can't get used to.
