I have a problem with my Diamondmax 10 200GB (16MB cache) not being recognised at the bios level. There were two things I did that might have started the problem but can't remember the sequence. I think it was working fine w/ the 1003 bios and then I think problem started when I installed a PCI modem.

Certainly, some weird things happened just after I installed the PCI modem. My PC would post but Windows would only boot about halfway and then hang. My LCD screen also looked faded. When I booted in safe mode and Windows installed the software for the modem, the PC booted fine after that. Weird.

At first I thought I had a bad drive but then I brought in my second Diamondmax from my other place and had the same problem. I have since read other threads from people having the same problem with the same drive model. At least one person has tried the latest beta bios which seems to have fixed the problem but I haven't had time to try it myself.

Crossing my fingers this is a simple fix and that the earlier weird thing with the PCI modem will not repeat itself.

Asus A8N Athlon64 3500+ (90nm)
1024MB Corsair DDR 3200 C2PT
WD Raptor 74GB (boot drive)
Maxtor Diamondmax 10 16MB 200GB (not raided)
XFX 6600 GT
Thermaltake Truepower 480W

I'm a happy A8N-SLI owner!!

Had a couple problems initially with video boards not working properly in SLI mode. Found out that although video boards may have a SLI connector on the top edge, this doesn't necessarily make it operate in SLI properly. Switched to certified SLI compatible EVGA 6800 Ultras and stable ever since!!

BIOS 1003 gave me some strange problems also. Switched to 1004 Beta and haven't had a problem since.

This board definately isn't for novice builders (although nobody ever will admit to being a novice!). It is really easy to screw-up the BIOS settings if you don't know what you're doing. I'll bet most people's RMA's and problems are operator errors and not a bad MB.

Novice builders should stick with tried & true MB's or expect to have problems and not start blaming the mfgr soon as they have a problem. Some people have more $$ than brains.

This board is FAST! You can really have a good time OC'ing this board!! This board is cutting edge - anyone who buys this board should expect some teething problems, that's expected with anything bleeding edge.

For me I enjoy tinkering with problems and trying to figure them out on my own, that's how I learn stuff. I have 4 running & stable systems here on a kick-ass network, each and every one was cutting edge at the time it was built. Problems and bugs with them all at first but over time and with patience everything comes together. All my systems are watercooled and pelted with the exception of this SLI system.

I enjoy tinkering with these things too, but not when alot of papers for school are on the HD and have to share a computer with other family members in the house until its fixed.

AnimalAsteroid you have to post some pics of your system. I'm sure I am not the only one who would love to see it.

OK, back on topic...My board is "the bomb." Had some initial small issues that were inherent to the NF4 Chipset as other DFI, and Gigabyte users are reporting as well. Overall the board is now as stable as my old P4 Max III system.

I also got my 2 PCIe 6800 Ultras from them so I know they have stocked them in the past.

I have had no problems with my Asus board so far. Very happy owner. Would be exstatic if they had positioned the 2nd PCIe slot further away from the 1st though... Currently there is no way to use 2 Danger Den NV68 water blocks due to clearance issues (atleast with 1/2" tubing). I would also like to be able to change the CPU multiplier... but maybe thats not possible with the 64s (haven't searched yet).

Very happy with my Asus A8n-Sli!

My build went without a hitch and the only problem I had was with the Nvidia IDE drivers. Besides that I'm running my 3000+@2430mhz 270X9 HTTx3 Memory Divider@333. I just built her and went right for that spped too =)! This 3000+ is an asskicker!

Seems quite high temps to me. I idle at 30-34 depending on the ambient (and how idle). After 4-5 hours on EQ2 I'm 34-38. Antec P160/Zalman Cu7700.
