Is there any other V8 that sounds anywhere near as good as a Mustang GT's?

The old 5.0's with a good set of headers do have a really nice sound. They hit a nice resonating note like a pipe organ.

Actually, its my opinion that the 4.6 sounds like sh~t. NOWHERE near as good as their 5.0 did, and nowhere near as throaty as the 5.8 which is what they should have used this time around. Compare it to the 5.7 in the Camaro, Vette and Firebirds and it sounds like a V6. The OHC sound can sound really good, but when its a V8 that's supposed to sound tough, OHV engines just sound 10x better.

Most of my Mustang/Ford friends agree with me too. Although I am a bit of a bowtie man, I'm not a fanboy, I just think the 4.6 was one of the worst move's Ford ever made.

Pushrod Powa! The 5.7L monster V8's along with the new 6.0L are amazing!

And the BMW V8's sound damn sexy at high RPM's! M5

I like the sound of a dodge 318 (~5.2L i think) comming straight from the headers to 3 inch exaust to exit right behind the cab of a truck. I love it.

Now that I see your post, I must admit I just assumed the OP was talking about one of the newer mustang's. So OP, which engine are you talking about. Since you could also be talking about the 5.8 which has been used in the Saleen modified Mustang's for a few years now.

I've heard plenty of LS1's, modded, stock, etc..but I still think the Mustang wins hands down.

Only if the "Heartbeat of America" power is entrapped in Charlotte's Web. Then the pig wins!

You're obviously nuts .

Mustang's have an X pipe from the factory (Mustang fanboy confirm please) and sound a bit more "throaty". I'm still an F-body/Vette fan, Mustangs just suck...did I mention they're slow?

So your referring to the 4.6? Then.

BlAHHhha, I just puked all over the place. The 5.0 sounds 10x better then the 4.6, and any Chevy motor listed above sounds 10x better then that. Have you ever heard a 5.0 stang a lang? Have you ever heard one of the 4.0L V8's that was in the Aurora and later used in the Shelby Series1 (the shelby version that is)? Have you ever heard a Ferrari 3.5L V8 wailing at 8000 RPM??

Geez, I would go so far as to say that EVERY V8 motor made in America sounds better then the 4.6 does, not to mention every V8 made in Europe too. But then again, there are other cars in America and Europe like the Panoz which also used the Ford 4.6, and the motor does sound better in the Panoz. Still sounds like @ss though.

In the old skool muscle car "best V8 rumble" department, Mopar is the winner hands down. Make it a hemi with a lumpy cam and headers with a free-flowing exhaust, and you've got just about the meanest exhaust sound ever made.

Agreed. Got any sound clips?

EDIT: To prove my point that GM owns the current V8 sound battle I give you: http://ls1sounds.com/
