Is there any other V8 that sounds anywhere near as good as a Mustang GT's?

You've never heard a modified 302/351 have you? Z28's don't even have true dual exhaust IIRC. Compared to the 4.6's...I'll give you that.

Well..yeah. I don;t exactly have a microphone outside now do I? I know...I could just drive it upstairs to my bedroom and get a nice recording right?

I'm sure if you opened your window and started recording and went down and fired her up, surely it would be picked up! A meaty exhaust can be heard a long ways. Who needs a boombox stereo when you can make all that noise?

I'm trying to quiet her down a tad actually. As it is I need to coast by cops, and the h-pipe 2Krpm drone make it hard to even have a conversation with the passenger without raising your voice...

Actually....that's a good thing...nevermind..

I have no problem with the noise as long as it makes real power.

Nothing is more irratating than a ricer that sounds like a pack of chainsaws passing you. Problem is I can pass them (while they're at WOT) and I don't even have to downshift! That is just pathetic.

nope Xpipe is an aftermarket mod.. not legal either...
usally has no cats on it...

stock is an H style pipe with 4 cats...

The stock H-pipe is a POS on the 87-93 5.0's. It had two cats on each pipe, and was only 2.25". The two cats were actually an older style..the first one was a "pre-cat", and the second was the main cat. They also had an air pump (smog pump) that would blow into them to help.

As far as X pipes, no they are not "illegal". The ones without cats are "technically" illegal", but if you live in a no emission state it's nice. Actually, a lot of 5.0's actually run better without the cats, and do better on parts of the smog tests than they do with cats.

Um even in non emissions states federal laws apply.. Xpipes with no cats are federally illegal on all bu race vehicles....

but yes i know what you mean.. my 347 Vortech car blew almost as clean with no cats at all as it did with..

There's no way that's a 4.6L mustang engine. My best friend has one with a $1200 custom exhaust on it and that clip just doesn't sound right. The engine in that clip is way bigger than 4.6L, probably around 5.7. That engine doesn't idle or rev like a mustang either.

I know...I didn't say they weren't. I was saying that there are X-pipes with cats that are legal. As for the feds...seen any gmen looking under cars for cats lately?

All V8s can be modded to sound like whatever basically. Heck, Borla has adjustable exhaust (what I have), you can tune it however you want!

I get a kick out of this guy who said he could get his Civic sounding like my LT1 lol. Good luck on that one.

A LT1 with GM hot cam kit (comes with some lifters and cam, ect) and flowmaster (rest stock, no headers ect) makes a very nice sound (and nice bang/buck performance). I'm assuming something like that is about what you are referring too.

no you cant make any car sound like any other car.. put the same 2 chamber flowmasters on a WS6 TA as you do on a 5.0 stang.. the engine notes and sound is 100% day and night different no matter what you do.. even stick borla on the same 2 cars.. while you can tune how load it is you cannot tune the sound itself... the 5.0 ford motor has a very distintive sound... it is unique

Mercedes AMG CL55 has the sweetess growl IMHO, but then again you could buy enough Mustangs for the whole family at that price. Still...nice daydream!!

You do realize the majority of Stang buyers are women, and the majority of Fbody buyers are men right?

True dual exhaust, better suspension, doesnt have that 4.6L that Ford deemed a "throwaway motor". Most of the true Ford guys use foxbodys... the newer stuff is great to galavant around town in.. but hardcore, true Ford guys use the 5.0L foxbodys.

Debate all around and through again over this.. and you'll keep coming back to that fact.

True dual exhaust means the exhaust pipe + mufflers go straight from the headers without intersecting. The Mustang sure doesn't have that.

The foxbodys had true dual. 82-93 IIRC

edit- actually i think 86-93 had true dual.. im more of a bowtie man myself.. but alot of the ford guys who use the 4.6L really need to learn about fords good stuff.

I may be picking up a '98 Cobra next year, though..unless I end up changing my mind

Exactly. V6s with women behind the wheel.. I'm sorry, its the only reason the Rustang is still being produced and the F-bodys are not!

So be thankful your womans car is at least still made.

I personally hate how the rustang's seats sit.. you sit up all hoity toity.. like a damn pinto.. the F-bodys you lean back like a true sports car.. its pimp as hell.
