i went in to the docs last wednesday for something else and ended up getting the h1n1 vaccine since i was already there.
i've been getting flu shots yearly forever and haven't had the flu as long as i can remember.
I have never had a flu shot and I can't recall ever having the flu. I rarely get sick.
Yep. This is why I never wear a seatbelt. I've never been in an accident, so it's pretty stupid to waste time putting one on, plus, sometimes they cause more damage than if you were not wearing one.
I think that's a pretty poor analogy. The human body has a built-in seatbelt called the immune system. Mine is working pretty well, so why would I want a 3rd party belt going in as well?
b/c you clearly don't understand how your immune system works.
Your body has had zero exposure to this virus strain (I'm assuming you were born after 1954--amiright?)
Therefore, your immune system = garbage in regards to H1N1. This isn't saying that H1N1 will be deadly if you get it. All it means is that if you do get it, you will likely be sick as hell for a week or so, possibly being hospitalized (or not), and who knows, maybe being on a ventilator. Most likely, you wouldn't die...but then again you might.
Or you could just get the vaccine and complain about the minor chance of a rash on your skin for 2 days.
BTW, my mother works at a hospital and mentioned that they had 3 new cases show up last week--one was a 33 year-old male who showed up in the ER late one night with difficulty breathing. within 24 hours he was on respirators and estimated at 80% mortality. Very healthy dude, otherwise. Crazy.
Again, these are somewhat rare, but the vaccine is free, and certainly not inconvenient.
