Is there scandisk in winxp?

My computer crashed and it restarted without checking file structure. I can't find a way to scandisk through winxp, only disk cleanup or defrag (which takes forever on a big harddrive). Is there a way to scandisk?

Open My computer. Right click on the partition in question. Select Properties. Select the tools tab. Click check now. Select automatically fix errors. (And scan for bad sectors if you would like.)

If it is your system volume it will probably make you reboot.

A better solution is to use norton system works.

Thanks. They should have just put this under system tools like in the older windows versions.

That would have made sense.

It seems Xp is a lot less likely to rescan after a crash than previous windows version. Just my experience.

There's no real GUI version of chkdsk in NT, you're expect to just run chkdsk from the command line.
