I've got everything else.

Is there any reason to get an E2xx and OC it? I'd like to future proof this as much as possible, and to be honest I don't even want to spend $500. How is this RAM? Am I better off going elsewhere? I'd like to OC this thing and should I buy an aftermarket fan?

I'd stay away from OCZ RAM.

In general, this is a bad time for futureproofing, since Intel will introduce a new architecture (and new CPU sockets) by the end of the year, and both Intel and AMD will be switching to DDR3.

I like OCZ memory, after having trouble with Corsair. It's be great if neg comments included a reason. My 2 GB Reaper sticks overclock nicely, stay cool. I do wonder about the "SLI ready" bit, except for the absurdly low prices at NewEgg for OCZ memory with this label, this could be a crime of opportunity.

But what's the deal with SLI ready? You're not buying an Nvidia chipset mobo. "SLI ready" reminds me of recipes that call for a particular brand of margarine. More on topic, they remind me of issues I've read with Nvidia chipsets. Probably, just some different settings in the ram to cope with mobos that don't have flexible BIOS controls, or users who don't want to manually configure. But the OCZ support forums are very responsive, if you want to ask there.

That said, I would have thought that the DS3L and DS3P BIOS options are identical, but it has come out in other threads that I see options DS3L owners don't see. I want to move up not down, the reason windsurfers keep buying flippier boards, I want a DFI now, but money is money, if the missing settings don't matter (undervolting the cpu is one I recall) then save the money.

I do also, and have many sticks of it in use. In today's systems I just don't like memory that requires 2+ vdimm off the bat to get going, therefor I would rather go with some memory that only requires 1.8vdimm yet still offers some headroom...that's all.

Get the G.Skills. 1.8v is the way to go, for sure. Seen way too many weird issues with 2.0v ram to recommend otherwise.

This sucks, right as I was checking out I noticed the price jacked up $40! I was going to buy this http://www.newegg.com/Product/...x?Item=N82E16820231098 for $40, but now it's $80. Anyway I decided against it.

I decided to wait until the fall unless somebody can recommend some other $40 ram that will OC well.

The voltage reqs are overstated, if one adjusts tRFC. I'm running at 1.9V just fine. See:

they did that last week also and then just a couple of days ago it dropped back down to 40. Whats with that RAM jumps up 40 buck in price one day and the next day its selling for 40 bucks

I would go for Gskill 1000 RAM 2x2gb. All else cool!
