It depends on how comfy you are building your own computer... You can build a similar rig w/ better quality components for $1300. However, if you're the type who will prob blow up his rig trying to plug it in the wall, I suggest you to pay that little extra for the warranty and support.

no for gaming -- a faster single-core intel P4 and a better video card should cost about the same.

Maybe if you wanted to poll people about something yo should have added... I don't know... a poll?

Anyhow, I think it is a good PC for the money, despite my growing hatred of Dell and all they stand for.

Edit: BTW does Dell not realize they make sticks of RAM larger than 512? I would suggest that it kills your upgrade path to already have all RAM slots filled, but since Dell's are disposable PCs anyways...

Its a good Price for a complete build when compairing it to actually purchasing each of those parts, but it isn't in my opinion a very good price vs. performance.

Build AMD gaming pc. It'll run like a butter on gaming. Try AMD X2 3800+, 2gb ram, 160gb hdd, zalman hsf w/ 120 fan, antec neopower 480, nvidia 7800gt or 7800gtx video card, audigy2 zs, benq 1640 dvd burner, 19" lcd monitor, any logitech combo n etc. I believe this amd gaming pc will cost about 1000-1800 bucks

I would suggest downgrading some stuff a bit (ram, soundcard, warranty) and upgrading to a 7800 GTX.

No. 1905 = bad for fps gaming. Intel = bad for fps gaming. Dell = Helpful if you dont know the difference between ram and a harddrive.

It won't get you very good gaming performance, but it's much cheaper than a 3800+ system (although a 3800+ system with like a 7800GT/GTX would completely own this).

basically anything from at least a a64 2800 or P4 2.8 with a 7800GT/GTX will own this for gaming. the 6800 is too weak.
