Is this a quality PSU?

Thanks for the explanation why you think it is crap. Judging from the simplistic post, I would assume that it is just an opinion. In all seriousness, what are the reasons for it being crap or not?

Do a little searching around... there are generally agreed-upon PSU makers that are quality.

Antec immediately comes to my mind, I believe CC&P or whatever the hell it's called, Enermax, Tagan...

If you don't agree and think it could be good, get it.

Just keep in mind the "Who the hell told you to get that PSU?" comments will be inevitable if you post back here saying that your system got fried.

Exactly. You are not going to find a truely high end quality PSU unless you spend ~$100. For that price point i would highly recommend Seasonic.

PC Power and Cooling, Zippy, and, OCZ are all out of his league as all are well over $100.

You should look at Seasonic, Enermax, and Antec for that price point. Tagan is also a bit more expensive.

Thanks for the more in-depth responses. It is true I am on a budget and am looking for a quality PSU for under $100. I will put the Aspire consideration on the far back burner for now.

With all due respect, I think you should take it off the oven. Deals that are too good to be true, are. Especially when it comes to PC hardware. You pay for the nice stuff.

Just because it may be working for you does not make it a good PSU. THere are much better options.

Those specs are WAY off. There is no way that PSU can sustain a 38A rail. I would venture to say, as a complete guess, that it might supply a constant 22A or so.

The Seasonics are WAY better as are Enermax and Antec.

And just because it may not be working for you does not make it a bad PSU.

See, it works both ways.

I can't see the UL file no. on there so I can't look up who actually makes it. If you have a source for the file no. (which looks like this: E123456), post it here and I'll look it up. I think I did once before and it was some unknown company. But at least is has both UL and TUV certs so it shouldn't be total crap.
. However, some of the psus they ship in their cases are made by L&C and are total crap...

Sorry Rib,
. None of those are it. It is the E123456 number that usually appears just below the RU symbol. There is another cert that has a similar file no format.

I find it funny, that my Raidmax which everybody on this forum deems as crap, yet only rated at 350w ran my 9800XT (not mine but borrowed from a friend), 4 hard drives, two opticals, my 3 case fans and lights, and my A64 setup. All of this...and my $100 400w antec couldn't do the job. Did I mention the raidmax has been in THREE different computers now?

I'm on an OCZ now to prepare for the future now that my 450w true POS died.

Yeah im sure the Antec could handle it just fine. Im sure that Powmax's voltages were all over the charts.

DO NOT get Powmax under any circumstances.

Alright, I am convinced...the Aspire is off the oven. That PSU guide is a good read and I think I will go for this one...good choice?

Dude, don't bag the Aspire because some people think OCZ is teh uber. Check this out:

Read this page from this same section

Notice the OCZ seems to be reading below specs, while the 500w Aspire is kicking major @ss. People here think that you have to pay the most money to get quality and that is almost never true. Usually you pay the most money for the "it" name and good performance when you can get equal performance for 30-50% less.

Nice dead link you have there . The Aspire is no where near the level of performance the Powerstream series offers. I would put Aspire down in entry level flashy with the Tt PSUs.

99% of cases in PSU shopping you get what you pay for.

Well that is a decent PSU. However i would HIGHLY recommend the Seasonic Super Tornado Series or the newer S12 over this. But by no means is the fortron a bad PSU.

It's not dead. Pay attention to what ayman is saying in it.

Well maybe for you it isn't but all i get is a blank forum page with no posts and only a quick reply dialogue. Nothing else.

I was more referring to the 510 Turbo Deluxe, but you are right.
