Is this budget computer build compatible?

1. Are all these parts compatible with each other?
2. Can this game play battlefield 2? At what settings would it play smoothly?

All this can be found on Newegg, my grand total was $480 minus $20 Video card mail in rebate, so $460(shipping in price). So is this good, and worth the money, remember $500 limit. Thanks!

Probably on fairly low settings. The 8500GT is a very weak GPU by today's standards.

I think you can find a 2600XT or an HD 3650 for about the same price, and I believe they both generally outperform the 8500GT.

The PSU that comes with that case is as cheaply made as you can find. Reliability is iffy so probably no overclocking or upgrading till you replace it with something decent. That case doesn't come with a fan, so don't forget that. Waiting for a sale on something like the Antec cases with a 380 power supply would be a lot better, and worth the extra money.

What exactly are you doing with the machine? It could be just fine or it could be a waste of $500.

I would get the Gigabyte GA-MA78GM-S2H motherboard not the GA-MA74GM-S2H .

The GA-MA74GM-S2H has 2 memory sockets, uses the older 690G chipset with a SB700, supports up to DDR2 800, and is AM2 not AM2+

The GA-MA78GM-S2H has 4 memory sockets, uses the new 780G chipset, supports up to DDR2 1066, and is AM2+.

If and when the TDP of the phenoms comes down then they will work in the GA-MA74GM-S2H motherboard, but the run with HT1 not HT3 and max memory speed of DDR2 800. This will impact on performance.

With the GA-MA78GM-S2H the phenoms will run with HT3 and can use DDR2 1066 memory.

I would not use any AM2/AM2+ CPU with a TDP of over 100W on these motherboards unless you have made sure the VRM section has plenty of cooling.
