My friend was driving 20miles an hour over the speed limit and got busted for "20mp over w/ wreckless driving." His case was good college GPA, no previous offense, good lawyer. The judge said "you should have known better" and sentenced him to 6 months with 8 days already served. Bit Excessive? Took him away right there.

Are you for hire? I could use someone like you to correct all my reports. I'm new that was my first topic cut me some slack.

you're posting a hell of a lot of stuff for someone who's new. 69PPD? crazy, man.

Tell your friend to be drunk next time; he'll get a lighter sentence. After all, we all know that drunk drivers are less dangerous than sober drivers that are speeding.

how old was the judge?

How old was the Judge? You think I took her out for tea and strumpets? Sorry, I?m flamebaiting again. Apparently I?m good at that. She was younger at least she looked younger and was a relatively attractive blonde.

Tea and whores with an attractive blonde judge? PARTY!

Yeah, making an almost entirely illegible post is pretty bad. But claiming that you're excused because you studied something more in depth (which is a funny statement in itself, as the study of language is one of the most complicated disciplines around) is sad.

In general people who are good in math and physics are not as good in art and grammar. English is in no way a logical language. It was my first topic and I think my first post I didn?t realize I was writing my term paper. I think I have more careful since. By the way I speak fluent German and decent Russian so take your worthless English degree elsewhere.

Nothing, This Judge was a relatively attractive blond woman but man did she have her panties in a bunch that day she sent almost everyone there to jail.

Little too much cheese on the taco that day?

Haha, no English degree here, so try again. Just rhetoric and classical humanities. Way to go on the German and Russian. I've studied German, Italian, Latin, and Classical Athenian Greek, so you're not impressing anybody.

And if you have actually studied any language, you'd realize that the ways language works and is deciphered is not all that different from the abstract thought which takes place when solving math problems.

Geez, you guys are ridiculous being the grammar police. Communication is more important then perfect spelling/grammar. Also, I think it's totally stupid that this guy was given any jail time for 20 over the speed limit. So many areas where I live (and I'm sure all over the US) there are roads with speed limits much lower than what would be safe for cars these days. Like on I-4, major interestate here in Orlando that runs from Tampa to Daytona, many parts of it, that are 3-4 lanes wide, with very long visibility, has only a 50-55 speed limit. 65-70 is very safe, and it's the typical speed of what people do. So 8 days in jail is by no means fair punishment for someone doing 20 over on the interstate, with a clean driving/criminal record (assuming his criminal record is clean too).

I completely agree with you that communication as a whole trumps spelling/grammar, but if you had read the OP, it was so poorly written as to miscommunicate/not communicate at all. It was almost unintelligible.

edit: I may have misspoke - the OP is pretty bad, but there was one following post IIRC that was just hard to read.

I do agree with it being fairly poorly written, and not easy to discern exactly what was going on. I wasn't sure if the guy got 6 months or 8 days. I just think the grammar nazi's are bigger fools for being so anal about grammar, than this guy is for spelling a few things incorrectly. The point is to chat/communicate here, there is no competition to see who has the best grammar, so if that's all you have to add to a post, I suggest not posting at all. Very rude IMO, and accomplishes nothing.

Yeah I bet, you studied all that and forgot asp .net, which has only outdated asp by about 3 years. Plus no Pascal, tisk tisk.

Virginia is like America a hundred years back. They don't take crap about anything. Most American states/cities has softened up and in most states if he was drunk doing 22over he would have gotten at most a night in jail and 6mos. suspension along with other things that come along with a dui.

WOW. 13 years ago I got nailed doing 40 in a 20mph school zone. Only got a $125 fine. Was in college at the time. (never did it again, though ) This judge is just wacky.

... Then again, it didn't happen in the neo conservative religious zealot filled South either.

I've driven in many states in the eastern half of the US. I've lived in a few of them. All my speeding tickets - Every Single One - has been in VA. Basically, speeding fines are a form of revenue for VA.

The only thing worse than someone who can't spell or use proper grammar is the asshole who is bothered by it so much that he derails the entire thread into bickering about it.

Get the hell over yourself.

IMO ... that is a ridiculous fine. I was doing 87 in a 65 and got a $70.00 fine with court costs. I was on my way home on I-70 (long drive) and was just cruising in the fast lane. Cop clocked me from an overpass.

I still can't believe she fined him with such a harsh sentence. CRAZY. Looks like he got the wrong judge on the wrong day. Sorry to hear that. That sucks big time.

He should have plead guilty to the speeding ticket.

The judge would have prob just fined him,and may have suspended his
license for 30 days.

The reckless driving,is what caught her eye.
Speeding alone is not as big a deal,reckless/careless driving is what the problem was.

She might have not liked the lawyer too.

There's got to be more to the story than the OP shared. That sentence is completely unreasonable, given the facts provided. Either the OP doesn't have all the facts, or didn't include them in his story.
