i can't beleive TD is still able to get away with never sending the rebate checks out to ppl

my friend actually spoke with someone there and faxed all the stuff to the company after they claimed he never sent the rebate info in and still no rebate check

Well, if you are AT then you can either build your own or are wanting to do so. You most likely already have all of the periphials so an upgrade might be as simple as mobo & cpu. Surely, someone has a combo deal for a similar mobo/cpu combo that would foot the bill.

Thanks to the others for the heads-up on Tiger Direct. I really don't see how these shady companies stay in business.

Remember that the people who are the most vocal are those that have had issues in the past.
I am not being disrespectful of anyone's opinion but if you get this deal and keep copies of all the stuff you sent out, you will, in the end, get this rebate.
Tiger has been around for a while they can't be screwing over all their customers. Also, I have heard "Tiger rebates never come" so many times on these forums that it seems this is just a general consensus and not actual fact. Most people that say Tiger Sucks, don't say they were screwed, just that they heard of people being screwed (possibly from second hand sources as well.) No I don't work for TigerDirect , but I do pay attention. Even on this page:

3 people say it sucks with no info to backup the statement.
1 person has direct knowledge of a problem, but is able to fax the info over to get it resolved
1 person is waiting on a mailed check, and lastly
2 people are completely satisfied with rebates that have worked just fine (one person gave dates and the other claims multiples)

Overall, based on this group, with the info at hand, one should assume it will work out fine so long as he has copies of the info sent in.
Just my 2 cents...

Considering the CPU and motherboard are about $400 shipped at Newegg, what do you have to lose if you want the combo anyway?

I've received 2 out of 2 rebates from Onrebate.com so far; one was Tiger, the other Ultra.

I'll take this one:

because there is a chance (not certainty but a fair chance) the you will get used/broken parts with you being hit with "restocking fees" if you try to return those used/broken pats.... with your credit card being charged twice on the original order... with you being signed up for calling cards and such.

IT HAS HAPPENED TO MANY MEMBERS HERE.

Also, thread starter, put a more descriptive thread title, and if use the words 'tigerdirect' in it, you'll get lots of actual confirmations from people here that they never got their rebates. What people also don't realize is that even if there are third party rebates involved, TD may stick you with no UPC white box or hold on until the rebate is no longer valid to ship your stuff....

This was several years ago, but I purchased a computer from Tiger Direct and the components inside were not what was advertised, in particular the video card was some generic $10 video card when I had paid for a premium card at the time. It took me several phone calls, and ultimately me doing what I normally avoid doing, that is, pointing out that I am an attorney and using the proper verbiage to get the issue resolved. Prior to that event, I liked Tiger Direct a lot. I had only purchased peripherals (not with rebates) and had no real problems. After that event, I haven't purchased a thing. Of course, YMMV.

The reason that those people didn't back up their statement is becasue they don't have to. Those who have been around this forum for awhile know that Tiger Rebates Blow and don't hold up on a regular basis. Its like saying that the sky is blue or water is wet. Its a given.

I don't have any experience ordering from tiger and the main reason is that I don't trust them. I have heard of too many problems with their service. Mostly from people on forums like this. I am I wrong for listening to the "general consensus" that may not be fact, I don't think so. I would rather save my money and order from company that has a good reputation. Case in point: Just think of how many times you have heard of NewEgg screwing people.... To be quite honest I don't think I have ever heard of an issue. The BBB has a total of 127 complaints within the past 3 years for NewEgg. And not 1 of the complaints went unanswered which speaks volumes when compared to:

Specifically our files show a pattern of complaints alleging dissatisfaction with product quality, failure to deliver promised goods, service issues, misrepresentation in advertising and marketing practices and the failure to address and overcome the basic cause of complaints brought to their attention by the Better Business Bureau.
