is this good enough for sc2?

hey I currently have a system on the way and was just wondering if it'll run sc2 on max settings, the specs are:
CPU: AMD 1090t 6 core (will try to overclock to 4.0) [on air]
MOBO: Gigabyte MA790-fxt-ud5p
Graphics Card: Crossfire Sapphire 6970 2gb
RAM: 12gb ddr3 1333mhz RAM (2x4gb corsair, 2x2gb g.skill)
CPU cooler: CoolerMaster V8 CPU cooler
SSD: 120gb OCZ Vertex 2
PSU: Antec Quatro 1000w
CASE: Antec DF-85

just worried since most games dont use past 4 cores, and since its a 6 core 1090t vs the 2500k or 2600k, its been made up with better gpu, just wondering since the cpu will probably bottleneck the computer, will it be enough to run sc2 on max settings?

This is MORE than enough. a single 560 can run SC 2 at 50FPS. Crossfire 6970 2gb?! Thats going to be kicking it highgears, probably towards 70~90 FPS

One 6970 can play at 81 FPS. two will give you probably 90?

the video cards are not the part that i worry about as i know they are more than enough for sc2, but the problem is the cpu, which is what im thinking will be the bottleneck of this build

Im pretty sure your CPU will be fine. if you havent bought the parts yet, i would prefer the i5 250k

thats the thing, its already been ordered, and either way im planning to upgrade to trigate next year, so one year with the 1090t shouldnt be too bad

Yes, it is more than enough. About twice as much as you need really.

Though, honestly, you should have posted here before buying. Sandy Bridge is much better value for your money.

those specs are OVERKILL for SC2.

FWIW i can max (ultra) SC2 @ 1680x1050 on my lan pc.

i3 530 @ 4.0
4gb ddr3 1600 7-8-7
radeon hd3870 512MB
320GB WD blue

nono im just worried about the CPU not the GPU, i know that GPU is enough, but there has been rumours going around about how bad the 1090t is

1090t is still a good cpu. i consider a q9550 a good cpu as well.
OC either of those and you still got some good legs even in the latest games.

for this particular application however (sc2, which uses WoW's engine) the engine is only capable of using one thread.

So, in this case, lets say I have three CPUs to choose from

4.0 duallie
3.5 quad
3.0 hex

when the number of cores and frequency are the only variables, the 4.0 duallie will get the highest fps because it has the highest single threaded performance.

i too would have suggested the 2500K platform had to decided to build NOW.

also, at this point in the CPU release cycle, im going to dock points for not picking up an AM3+ mainboard which opens up an upgrade path to BD later this year.

I'm pretty use that SC 2 can use at least two threads. It won't take advantage of a quad or hex, that's for sure.
