Hello,

Yes, it was perfectly awful! My apologies.

It wasn't about price however, had a screenshot of sisoft with a memory bench and then hope to get your feedback on it. Trouble is; I'm web stupid and can't seem to post that image.

Again my apologies.

Thanks for replying.

well, you can't post images in this forum. you can only link to images. so you would have to upload the picture to a personal webspace or something

Ah! Well it's fortunate that images can't be posted her, since I don't know how. I've felt under some pressure to post images to "prove" marks, so forth. Not a bad thing though.

Well then, back to Crucial 2100. Seems I read that some mobo manufactures consider it "generic". News to me, since I've used it since PC100, and have always overclocked it with good results, ( the pc100 and the pc133 still going strong.)

Anyway, My benchmarks with the 2100 in sisoft are: 2620/2616. I'm running a 1.6a Northwood on the Asus P4B266. Now, coming from scores in the 300 region on the 815e....I'm not disappointed if this is "generic" DDR.

When then, did Crucial become "Generic"? Or, are these numbers low and by what standards...rdram maybe..but????

Crucial memory is bought from a couple of source's most of them good. My cas 2.5 pc2100 runs fine @166mhz cas 2.5 for a score with an unlocked tbird at 7 x 166 of 2200/2200

Strongly agree with you both there.

And Mingon, my stick of 512mgs is going a cool 176mhz...and has been higher without error. Yours I see, going strong there too. I've always bought from Crucial directly...they've been great over the years. The current stick has Samsung chips on it. Never really noticed what my PC133 had, will look though.

On another forum this morning, I see that some folks having trouble with errors when testing with mem86. I have to wonder if it's that program.....or "where" did they get the Crucial from? I've run Mem86 here...no errors. Either of you done same?

I know I'm wrong now, but I thought Crucial always used Micron chips exclusively. When did this change? Or was it always like this? All of mine have been Micron.
As far as the people having errors with mem86, were any of them running Tyan Tiger MP(X) boards?

I will go back and look for those posts regarding Tyan boards....interesting. More since, it was coming from different people, on different forums.

And yes, this stick of DDR 2100 has Samsung chips.....did check the PC133 I have.....Micron chips. The number on DDR almost matches Corsair memory as well...I did a Google search on it.

However, I'm not upset to find the Samsung chips on here, as it runs at very high bus speeds at 2.5/222....over 145fsb..go 333 though....and I hear Samsung mem is just flying. Either way...still makes Crucial excellent memory...IMHO.

I have yet to hear a negative comment about Crucial in terms of performance or service. I am pretty sure that is what I am getting for RAM for my monster system to be built soon .

well..im my opinion crucial has two sides...

Crucial is "very good" ram if you dont overclock or keep your overclock kinda mild. Eg i am running my ddr 2100 at 140FSB Cas2 currently. I know it can get higher (144)...but actually i killed one stick already running at 144, so i keep it safe at 140.
Keep in mind that these things dont have any heat spreaders, and that a 'standard' DDR 2100 ram stick is supposed to run at Cas2.5 at 133 mhz (!!!!) and Cas2 only up to at 100Mhz !!! So running Cas2 at 140FSB can be considered quite nice if you look at those values.
Be warned, however, that i wouldnt recommend Crucial for hardcore overclockers....eg. above 140FSB you might enter dangerous regions...

Crucial is also known for their very fast/free shipping and great RMA/customer service....

However, my ONLY negative point is that (IMHO) their ram is kinda pricey..you can look around on the net and find 2700rams with heat spreaders, other brands for less money than what crucial wants for their stuff..

Overall it's good ram, tho..there might be worse brands, for sure !

people,

it hasnt much value to see statements like "i run mine at 160...or...i run mine at 176"....the point is with what ram-timings in the bios are you able to achieve that speeds ? I mean...i am almost positive i can reach MUCH higher values setting all my ram timings higher and less aggressive..eg. Cas2.5, 2T (or even more) for the other settings like write recovery time etc. etc....i am running 140 which means ALL bios dram timings tweakes to the max....how do you run your rams at 160 and up ????? And do you use special cooling/heat spreaders etc ?????? I killed one stick at 144 already...and that's why i ask.....
