my friend gave me his fujitsu 20gb to back up some data, because he was having some problems booting off his drive.
i connected the drive, loaded win2k...and the disk was unreadable. in disk management, win2k was unable to recognize the file system in use. i used partition magic to determine it was fat32. from there i booted to dos, managed to back up important data from dos...
then went back into windows to format the drive, and it simply would not format. windows would start formatting...then just sit there.
i rebooted, and when the drive was detecting during bootup my a7v133 flashed me the message "drive failure is imminent. backup your files immediately" etc. i continued to boot into dos with a win98 bootdisk. i tried formatting and it said "disk unusable".
is the drive dead?
