Is this illegal?

1. Somebody pulls a knife on me. I take out my legal concealed gun, aim for their head, and shoot, killing them.

2. Somebody pulls a gun on me. I take out my legal concealed gun, aim for their head, and shoot, killing them.

Am I supposed to warn them after I've pulled out my weapon? Can I shoot to kill or do I have to maim them?

he said legal concealed, so he's in a state where you can and he has a permit.

I live in New York state. I plan on getting one because I want to do some night jogging but I think you can only use the gun at the range.

Does it matter? If he pulls a knife and threatens me, isn't that enough justification to settle the matter? Honestly, I don't want to give him a second chance to do it to someone else, possibly hurting them.

I can't imagine running with a gun, I'd be worried it would accidentally fire and shoot off my wang.

You're able to protect yourself from harm, not play judge and jury on what this douche might do in the future.

The key part is what state you are in and sometimes what county you are in and if the DA wants to be a prick. It usually goes down to if you feel your life is threatened. I would say in scenario #2 if somebody pulled a gun on you, you would feel justified in feeling your life was threatened. However in scenario #1 this could vary. If the person rushed towards you with the knife then yes. If the person was 20 yards away and was just waving it at you then probably not. Also it can depend on your sex. A petite woman can more easily get away with feeling she is threatened.

Carry a gun while jogging? Buy yourself a treadmill.

Jesus, when I use to live in Berkeley and commute to SF. I used to get off the BART in Oakland and jog home at night. Ran thru some sketchy areas but never felt the need to carry a gun.

After they are down, take the knife (use a cloth to avoid prints) and cut your forearm.

I don't think you would be able to hit somebody in the head in that kind of situation. Best to aim center mass and double-tap.

1 - If you feared for your life, you're justified in shooting.

2 - If you feared for your life, you're justified in shooting.

If you shoot to wound, it's bad for you because then they can sue you if they live. Also just empty several rounds into the person, because it will look more like you feared for your life that way.

make sure your tin foil hat isn't on too tight while jogging ...

I've jogged thru some of NYC's worst areas for years and never had a problem

If you are permitted to carry on your person, that means you are permitted to protect yourself and others from dangerous individuals.
However, if you shoot someone to kill, and he is charging you, you better hope there are witnesses.
But also, you're first step is to pull out the weapon, aim and charge it. Anyone that is attempting to attack you without a firearm of their own, and has a charged firearm pointing at them, is likely to stop. If they so much as flinch in your direction, shoot at your discretion. However, I wouldn't shoot immediately. Give them a chance to stop, because again, without witnesses, you are going to be in a very precarious situation, regardless of whether you kill or only injure him.

edit: if they pull a firearm on you, then don't even hesitate in firing your weapon if you have the chance. Don't get yourself killed though just because he pulls a weapon, because if you don't have one out and someone points a gun at you, reaching for a firearm is likely to get you shot. But it works a lot easier in court if the dead guy also had a firearm, and since you would have a permit, it'll look a lot more like self defense.

You never shoot to maim. It's always shoot to kill. Both situations are legal and justified. If you maim someone, you can be sued for injuries.

Better investment than buying a gun to shoot someone who pulls a knife on you.

Honestly, shoot him in the head? Do you really call that self defense? Aim low and I guarantee he'll think twice before attempting to stab you again.

Yeah right. Have you jogged around Morningside Park at night/dawn? Have you jogged around the Polo Grounds at night?

Depends on if you have witnesses..

If you don't, then you can make up any story and say that it was self defense...

If you shoot, shoot to kill.
If you shoot to wound, then you'll have to spend money for a lawyer. They will sue and try to bring charges up against you.

Shoot minimum 3 shots, aim either at the head (hard to do) or their chest.

If you shoot to kill in self-defense, then you don't have to worry about them coming back for revenge, trying to sue you, or try to bring charges against you..

Don;t you know them darkys are out and they could attack at any time. Did you hear what happen in FL, that guy was so scared he offered the darky money to suck his dick as he was afraid for his life. Now they think he is gay because it was a undercover cop and all but you can;t be to safe now.

OP yea go ahead and try to aim for the head. When you miss they then take the gun and shoot you with it.
Dumbass that thinks he is dirty harry.

You're jogging and not carrying any money, why would they want to rob you? Afraid that they're going to rape you?
