Offensive? No. But that pose makes absolutely no sense for a "best bodies" article it's pitching.

First thing I thought of when seeing it was a King Kong reference. But nothing racial or offensive. He is "King" James afterall.

Some people need to grow thicker skin and find better ways to occupy their their times than trying to find things to bitch about.

Not offensive, but I also don't think it's a very good picture.

1.) Rosenfeld, in case you?re wondering, is white. Robin Givhan, the Pulitzer Prize-winning fashion editor of the Washington Post and a former associate editor at Vogue, is black. And she doesn?t see what all the fuss is about.

2.) ?It?s so exhausting that every time people see an image of a black person they work themselves into a tizzy that somehow it doesn?t adhere to the way in which they think a black person should be presented,? she said.

1.) Of course he is. Liberal white men love to feel guilty, and love to make others feel the same way.

2.) Thank GOD for people like this. There is a severe shortage of people with their heads on straight in this world.

If it doesn't bother black people, white people need to shut the hell up about improper depiction of black people.

It's ridiculous. "the racial stereotype it purportedly evokes -- black beast clutching a white damsel in distress" You really have to stretch, a lot, to read that from the picture. There's absolutely nothing whatsoever in her body language that suggests that she's in any kind of distress (she's arching her back and turning toward him, possibly to better display her tits), and he doesn't even look like he's clutching her. Note that his thumb and index finger aren't touching her, and this gives me the impression that he's not only not being possessive toward her, but even that he's a bit reluctant to touch her.

Someone is trying to create controversy for its own sake.

a lot of people will see it like that without reading this story, America for the most part still can't get over race. a quote from Denzel Washington

While filming the 1995 film Virtuosity, Washington refused to kiss his white female co-star, Kelly Lynch, during a romantic scene between their characters. During an interview, Lynch stated that while she wanted to, "Denzel felt very strongly about it. I felt there is no problem with interracial romance. But Denzel felt strongly that the white males, who were the target audience of this movie, would not want to see him kiss a white woman." Lynch further stated, "That's a shame. I feel badly about it. I keep thinking that the world's changed, but it hasn't changed quick enough."[5]

you can argue if he's right, or just crazy. But what he did here is a direct reflection of what he believes, and there's truth to it because a lot of people would have been outraged. it's sad but that's life

If it was 1965, sure, white people would be all outraged. By '95 I don't think that many people would've found it upsetting.

can only really see a bigot being offended by the cover. I'd really see Jiselle in less clothing and replace LeBron with another scantily clad model, but that's me

Am I the only person who remembers the controversy about Terrell Owens and that white woman from Desperate Housewives before a MNF game? There was a public outcry about the indecency of the commercial, when really it was just a white woman jumping into a black man's arms. It wasn't sexually indecent by 90% of the country's standards, no matter what the network time slot. Do you think for a minute that if it had been a Manning in the spot, or even Halle Berry jumping into TO's arms that it would've had even a spec of uproar, let alone force ABC to make a public apology?

So in light of the public's incredible reaction to that incident, I think it's pretty short-sighted to say this cover in no way participates in or seeks to capitalize on racial stereotypes, subliminal though they may be. I'm not offended by this cover personally, but I think it's clearly the reflection of a racial perception in the US.

I looked at the picture before reading the article and have to say I didn't even for a split second think of the things they're stating.

Just looked like an athlete and a model on a cover to me.

I think the ones calling out this as being racist might need to take a look in the mirror.
