He's a grown man, right? He agreed to it, right? WTF is the problem here? Want to be offended? Blame him, not Vogue.

edit:I want the four people that voted yes to post, and I want to know skin color as well.

stop it, thats racist!

It's just so easy to do sometimes.

But really. Don't you think it would be interesting to know the percentage of non-blacks that voted yes?

?Here you have an image of a black male athlete in an exceptionally aggressive stance, wide footed, bending over, clutching her with his arm,? said Jason Rosenfeld, professor of art history at Marymount Manhattan College. ?It?s one thing to have an athlete in that kind of pose and with that kind of expression on a court after he or she has done something miraculous. It?s another thing to couple it with someone who is of an entirely different ilk and gender. That turns it into a racially charged image.?

Why the scrutiny? LeBron is the first black man, and only the third man in Vogue?s 115-year history, to grace the high fashion mag?s cover.

?When you?re for the first time putting a black man on the cover, and this is the way you?re depicting him, it means that you?re going nowhere,? Rosenfeld said. ?Pose LeBron in the pose of a Greek God and pose her as a Venus -- then you?re upping the conversation.?

1.) Rosenfeld, in case you?re wondering, is white. Robin Givhan, the Pulitzer Prize-winning fashion editor of the Washington Post and a former associate editor at Vogue, is black. And she doesn?t see what all the fuss is about.

2.) ?It?s so exhausting that every time people see an image of a black person they work themselves into a tizzy that somehow it doesn?t adhere to the way in which they think a black person should be presented,? she said.

1.) Of course he is. Liberal white men love to feel guilty, and love to make others feel the same way.

2.) Thank GOD for people like this. There is a severe shortage of people with their heads on straight in this world.

If it doesn't bother black people, white people need to shut the hell up about improper depiction of black people.

One question?</a>

If you're making a point, it's apparently going over my head. Blazing Saddles is hilarious.

How is it offensive? they are both wearing clothes. And im assuming he is straight? whats being portrayed incorrectly here. Possibly, maybe possibly children who look up to lebron will all want to grow up and be with models.

I think it's the fact that it depicts him playing offense that's offensive.

But yes, it does make Gisele look like just another possession he's collecting. More offensive to women really than blacks.

No, just thought of it while reading the posts. It's a shame a movie like that couldn't be made in todays anal retentive pc society.

The photo was posed with poor judgement--Although it doesn't offend me, I instantly saw the similarities to racial stereotypes and could have predicted the potential fallout.

Go ahead and stone me. I voted against George Bush 2x, so I know how it feels to be in the minority.

Let's see what the whiney, uppity, pussified American public thinks of that one.

Jesus this kind of pseudo "Let's try as hard as humanly possibly to find something to be offended by about this" liberal attitude about race pisses me off.

Hah... no.

Semi-related story though -
A long time ago, when I was young and naive, I was at the Sports Authority with my parents. There was a huge poster of Allen Iverson hanging up. He was hunched over, and he was dribbling a ball back and forth between his hands very low to the ground. His one hand that had just dribbled the ball was curled inward. Picture that in your head. I looked at the poster and said to my parents (in a not quiet voice), "he looks like a monkey." I meant gorilla, but I'm not sure that would have been any better. My mother told me that's not an appropriate thing to say, but I protested that he really did look like a monkey! I didn't mean that he physically resembled a monkey, I meant that he was posed like a monkey (gorilla http://www.gorillahub.com/dreamstime_gorilla%206.jpg). I did not know at the time that it's not polite to say black people look like monkeys.

On a side note, why can't white men be paired up with hot black women more often? It seems like the vast majority of interracial portrayals are black male white female.

I'm a black man, and I voted no. I did find that Golf magazine issue with the noose on it to be in poor taste, though.

I clicked on the link before reading the article and thought that the link must've been messed up. I can't believe that anyone would be offended by it. I don't necessary like the photo, but the only thing to get offended at are those that still see a problem with a black man and a white woman.

We know what sort of hangups this white professor has, now don't we? His wife must have a thing for... dark meat.
