I was driving in Hwy 101 and I passed these 2 exact cars.
They look a bit odd and I don't remember seeing any car like this.
I don't follow car news that much but maybe they were testing a new car ?
They removed the car logo but the shape looks very much like Nissan Logo.

Anyone else notice the dents?

Maybe they did that on purpose? lol...

Hmm, I think that's too small to be the new Maxima, and too big to be the new Sentra (unless their making it a bigger car), and they already refreshed the Altima for 2007 and that's definately NOT it...so I have no idea what car that is. But from the side profile it looks like a shrunken Maxima more than anything else.

edit: on further inspection, I'm 99% sure that's a new Maxima

I've checked out all the 2007 Sentra, Altima, or Maxima and none of them look like this.
Very odd indeed.

It seems to be a variant of the Asian spec Nissan Cefiro. They are very common around here, in Singapore, much like the Maxima in the US. They are mid-size cars, and look quite elegant in real life, especially the interiors.

It has MI manufacturer plates, so it might be a test example, not meant to be sold in the US. When I lived in MI a few years ago, I used to see Renault Meganes and Hyundai Equus test mules never (meant to be) sold in the US.

Good find martensite.
The pictures that I took definately look like Cefiro.
While the car have MI plates, I took these shots in AZ.
Is it possible that Nissan is considering to bring the Cefiro here ?

IIRC, there is a Nissan testing ground somewhere in AZ, maybe that would explain it. I dont think the Cefiro would come there since you guys already have its cousin, the Maxima.

Good call, looks like a Cefiro.

Oddly enough, these cars does not have the usual black tape/cover anywhere on the body like the usual test cars.
They don't make any effort to hide them.

Here's another hypothesis--what if it's being used as a test mule to disguise a new US-market Infiniti model? IMO, a Cefiro-derived premium luxury sedan for Infiniti would make sense, possibly as a new I35 model to compete against the Acura TL/Lexus ES.
