Is this possible?

Hey guys I have a HDMI Graphic card and I sometimes hook it up to my TV via the HDMI cable.
I was wondering if it is possible for me use 2 different displays at the same time on 1 machine.
For eg the TV should display something completely different to what my lil sister may use on the native monitor

Like I could be watching a 1080p video on the TV while another user can use the same pc to go on youtube or play flash games etc (With no interference)

should be possible (assuming windows 7 or XP):
0) connect both the monitor and the TV to your graphics card
1) use the monitor as the primary display, set the TV as the secondary display
2) drag the 1080p video to the 2nd screen (i think usually/default by going off screen to the right)
3) watch stuff on TV while your sister is using the computer

I tried doing that once but it did not work. I think I did some sort of "dual monitor" setting and it kept splitting the screens into different sizes

Heh, you basically want to save one computer?!
This could be accomplished by using a VMWare, creating a virtual environment for the second user, assign hardware (input devices, monitor, etc.) to that virtual install and go from there.

Depending on what kind of hardware you are using (disk space, memory, CPU) this could be a bit challenging for your computer. Also not that since most is run in software (emulated hardware) in the virtual environment, that user will have fun playing WoW etc.
