I wouldn't go so far as to say quality PUS however, they are definitely better than generic.

Can't tell exactly what it is without a close enough pic of the label so I can get the UL file number...

i have never heard anything good about mad dog psu's, i would be weary. be careful when selecting your psu, it is one of the most important things in your computer...it supplies all the power, hence if it is crapy your system will have probs. I KNOW THIS FROM EXPERIENCE! if you're looking for an ATX2.0, 500w, 24pin psu then i would go with the Fortron "Bluestorm" AX500. http://www2.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16817104934
i have this psu and is very stable, looks great, has a reasonable price, and is highly rated and recommended. you can search for it and easily find some reviews. remember, parts are all about marketing, don't pick something just b/c it's highly advertised, investigate it first. www.ocforums.com would be a good place to get some info on parts you are unsure about. just a quick example, i wanted to get a water cooling system and i asked people on there. in less than a week i had decided on all my parts and learn so much i felt like i'd been studying for a week. that's it.

Yea the layout of the 4 fans and the fan controller light/button looks exactly like my Super Flower (TTGI) power supply. I would safely assume it is a Super Flower/TTGI PSU which is really stable.
I would keep the PSU on the lowest fan speed instead of manual.

I got an Ultra-X connect PSU recently and that thing was a piece of junk. It really looked nice however the PSU temp felt a lot warmer than the low settings when compared to my Super Flower. It also was unstable and didn't work at all after 2 days. Yes in 2 days the Ultra-X died and wouldn't power my system anymore. It also corrupted my computer a little due to crashes here and there. I would recommend a Super Flower PSU to anyone if they want a quality PSU. I have a case window so a "modded" PSU would be one of my first choices. Don't really like the 4 fan design though. I would prefer 1 120mm fan over a 4 fan design.

That looks decent. 12V rail has 30A which is plenty of power unless you're running an SLI configuration with 2 6800U's.

I was actually looking at the modstream and the only thing that I was disappointed in are the 5.25 connectors (4 pin molex) or lack there of....(http://www.slcentral.com/ocz-modstream-520w-psu/page3.php) I have 3 cdrom drives 6 HD's and 4 fans that are 4 pin molex...I know that I can put y adapters on my fans which brings me down to 11....heck i could even drop a HD as well....

I prefer OCZ psu's, I got a powerstream 420W, and it has >30A on the 12V rail. It looks real nice too. A cheap psu would have <30 even if it's stated 500W, and you know it's gonna melt before it gives you 500W of continuous power.
