Is this PSU worth $19

It's $20, not $19. But yes it is worth it, nothing else comes even close in quality for the money at the moment. The next best deal is the CX500M for $35 AR AP

I used the CX430M in a build for my father. Good little unit and IMHO its worth the extra $ for modular (so much easier and neater). Personally, I would never go with a nonmodular PS...hate the spiders nest.

Hence I would go with the CX500M recommended by lehtv above.

Corsair's CX series is a dependable line. I have a crap ton of them (430, 430M, 500, 500M, 600) that are run 24/7 (some even used to power Bitcoin miners) with no problems.

Not the best efficiency or regulation, but you can't compare a Civic to a Maserati

I bought it for a spare. The rebates have been working perfect for me. Fingers crossed.

How do these compare to the antec earthwatts of 2008 or so.

I bought one a few weeks ago.

The newer CX430's are 80Plus-bronze rated, so they're definitely better than the Antec EA380's (mine's not bronze rated). Like others have said, the main gripe is no modular cables.

Higher efficiency doesn't automatically mean better unit, although in this case it'd probably be alone enough to justify using the CX over the original Earthwatts, because the CX is sufficiently good in all respects that the higher efficiency is just a no brainer. That's not to say the Earthwatts were necessarily better in other respects though... except that they were made by Seasonic, so that's a plus. (I doubt you can find any Nippon Chemi-con caps in a CX.)

I have that PSU, coming from an old antec 350, which burned out. I feel like its a very solid and quiet psu

good bang for the buck, but would consider slightly more reliable models, never skimp on the power supply

I've got 2 CX430s in service... one in my HTPC that has been running for a year and a half... no problems with performance or noise. I liked it so much, I put one in my in-laws build, and have a CX430M ready for my next build. Never a problem, and as long as your paperwork is squared away, Corsair has been 100% on rebates with me... some returned in record time.

I don't get how anyone can complain about lack of modular cables at that price. It's a $20 power supply, and unlike the good old days of DEER/ALLIED power supplies, the CX430 is actually a really good power supply that won't kill your computer or burn down your house. It's also relatively quiet. It's the go-to power supply for anyone on a budget who doesn't have a power hungry video card.

Just to give a little perspective this is what $75 used to buy you - a guaranteed failure that can't live up to its rated wattage while it is still alive, and now you can get CX430 for only $20 after MIR. Sheesh...
