But it's not a right for unions to collectively bargain.... gotcha.
They can bargain all they want. I can tell them to fuck off.
It's a free country.

Or they can tell a company to fuck off like happened here.
No, that is NOT what happened here because of contract hostage of the company. That's the problem with unions, it's a one sided deal.
Good job unions! You shut down another company! Way to go! You won!
wait...now you don't have a job or income or much of anything. But you won!
Good job executives! You ran a company like shit and took huge raises while doing so. Now you don't have a job.. but you win!
This isn't a one sided coin you dumbshit.
LOL that is the dumbest fucking thing I have ever heard. Management should take a raise from 750K to 2.25 million in the middle of going through bankruptcy? That is not working for free.... I am talking about taking a 300% raise while cutting the rest of the company. CEOs are commonly rewarded for drilling companies into the ground and it is fucking sick.
What would you do if yourbosscreditorstook a 300% pay raisetook your bonuses and equity and you were working for a sinking company? I know what I would do... I'd quit and find another job, especially if I knew the company was sinking anyways.
Let me rephrase an earlier post you made in this thread:
See what I did there?
As I said earlier, distressed companies need to pay their mid- and high-level staff (i.e., anyone that's capable of jumping ship) more than financially-sound companies, because the risk and uncertainty is higher. This is especially true when non-salary compensation options (e.g., stock, perks, etc.) aren't available. This isn't rocket science; risky activities of any sort need to offer greater rewards to attract participants.
The staff at the bottom would do the exact same thing if they had the opportunity. The only reason they didn't jump ship earlier was because they're mostly unskilled and semi-skilled workers who don't have as much job mobility.
Is it fair? Probably not, but it is what it is.

That's what I always do, pay more to retain people who are part of the running me into the ground.
You're making a pretty big assumption, here.

Yeah, but with the capital I earned I can just go somewhere else and am safe for many years. There is a market for my skills, not so much for the guy making twinkies.
I told you life isn't fair, one chooses the loser path or the winner path.
When the lower and middle class learn WHY they remain in that place is the moment they move up. For the extreme majority of them they will never learn this lesson and blame their lot in life on somebody other than themselves.
Yeah...I got mine, I will keep getting mine. Why are you complaining and not getting yours? The mind of the liberal.
It's about time the Twinkie died off.
You know they caused brain damage don't you?
Which had a major roll in the killing of Mayor George Moscone and Harvey Milk.
Court documented fact!!!
If wages are too low, find a higher-paying job or improve your skills/resumé so you can get a higher-paying job.
From the mouths of progessives...Instead of baking Twinkies, maybe the workers should begin building guillotines that can be used to exterminate the top 5%.
This has nothing to do with the unions. The company was toast very soon anyways....this was just convenient timing for them. They were probably upset the Teamsters agreed last week. Caught them off guard.
With all the unemployed people....combined with the ones that did cross the line....IF the company truly wanted to continue operations...they could have hired replacement workers....even permanently. I don't imagine a lot of extensive training required to make a twinkie.
