no.

Its not a stereotype it is simply the truth. Women are physically weaker - its just how they're built.

I didn't waste my time reading most of this thread, because I know I'd just end up wanting to slap someone. All I have to say is.....

Men are stronger emotionally? BAHAHAHA! Why then do most men feel threatened by other men, are jealous, start fights, whine, and feel the need to constantly swagger about? Men are noooo better than women when it comes to emotional stuff.

And you want strength? You men try pushing a 8 lb baby out of your crotch without whining. Shoot, you guys stub your toe and you need the waaaaaahmbulance.

Man, this thread got way off track. Anyway, let's look at the primitive tribe example. One of the two adults in a household needs to look after the children when the other goes to war. So picking either the man or the woman, the choice is obvious...you pick the man because they are, on average, stronger than women. In more recent times, I think a lot of it is custom, but also, the physical strength is still an issue. Also, men have a week spot for women and they can be used as interrogation leverage. Also, sex could prove to be an issue during long combat tours. Also, what about a woman's period? Is that one more thing to deal w/ during combat in terms of supply? I am not trying to make a sexist remark w/ that, I am merely asking a question.
The leverage issue could definitely be a problem. This isn't a statement about women per-say, but men are dumb when it comes to women, and just like in Junior High when Mary Bigknockers finally "developed", it's inevitable that their attention is going to be drawn towards things other than the task at hand, no matter how much training/conditioning they've had. The sex thing is also an issue the armed forces deal with right now; it's been a while, but I recall a report on an aircraft carrier's tour of duty earlier this decade where a quarter of the women had to be evacuated(i.e. sent home early) due to pregnancy. This isn't to say that women can't perform well on the battlefield, but there are certain fundamental human problems that tend to conflict with war.

When I think of things like this, I often think of the work of James Thurber (1894-1961, writer/illustrator). He had a great sense of humor regarding the War of the Sexes! Check it out!

Google search on James Thurber.

Pokin' around some of the hits I found this cool quote:

'I loathe the expression "What makes him tick." It is the American mind, looking for simple and singular solution, that uses the foolish expression. A person not only ticks, he also chimes and strikes the hour, falls and breaks and has to be put together again, and sometimes stops like an electric clock in a thunderstorm. '

What does it tell you about who is more expendable, when men were sent off to be used as cannon fodder while women kept the home and family running?
