Do we really want potentially hundreds or thousands of trained and pissed off former troops out there running loose at a time when anti-government militias are seeking new blood?

Can't we just deploy them to a common base in some other country?

Can't we just deploy them to a common base in some other country?

And undermine discipline in the service? Doesn't seem too bright.

Latest count was 100 discharged from the marines and 27 from the army. I'm not terribly worried about these clowns adding noticeably to the roster of traitors. At least not yet.

Hundreds of thousands? You’re off by several orders of magnitude. You do realize the entire marine corps is like 180,000 people, right?

Also, compliance within the military is at like 98%+. Finally, as mentioned allowing them not to be vaccinated undermines readiness. Allowing them to refuse is detrimental to good order and discipline. To me the biggest problem is the discharges aren’t punitive as they should be.

As someone who has personally enforced COVID vaccination mandates I’ll tell you people cave. The only difference here is that because the discharges are honorable or general (and therefore eligible for benefits) you may see people do it to get discharged on purpose. They would be happy though, not pissed off.

Regardless, the vaccine mandate is 100% the correct policy. Amusingly enough as your article mentions the military has a dozen vaccination mandates already in place before this one. Vaccine mandates are a standing part of military life and we should never be without them.

How much damage can a guy like this do, with the right kind of backing, funding, etc? Imagine him and a guy like Bannon, Prince etc teamed up. Bannon already has millions of followers primed.

I'm not suggesting he could topple the government or anything, but a lot of people could get hurt.

You sound like you have some rather deep fears. Perhaps it would help to know that everything you fear happening already happened to you long ago. The only thing you fear now is some condition occurring that will cause you to remember. Not to worry. You are built in a way that can happen only in therapy and only with time and a real therapist plus your own personal dedication to see it through.

These are guys who would commit atrocities for their country but won't take a shot in the arm. Yet before the pandemic hit, took every shot in the arm including less well tested shots for diseases that are almost non-existent like plaque and anthrax. I totally agree with this LT. Asking soldiers to now take a new vaccine that more than 500 million human beings across the world have already taken to address a common disease that is ravaging societies is just a step too far. The plague and anthrax vaccines were reasonable. COVID is not.

Actually no. Good riddance to him. I hope they take his pension. If he can't see the logic behind vaccination and how it protects his soldiers, he doesn't deserve to be a position of power in the military. Period.

The type of dumbass that is making a big deal out of taking 1 vaccine out of the several others is still going to be the type asshole who joins an anti government or white nationalist militia. Vaccine or no vaccine. These assholes are a "type".

I'm gong to assume that every swinging dick and tit in service is physically able to deploy with exception to those who are injured, sick, etc. That being said, if they're refusing to get vaccinated, I'm also going to assume that most of those who are getting out prior to their contracts being fulfilled will receive a general discharge and not an honorable one. Don't know how that affects their benefits, but surely getting less than an honorable must affect their veterans benefits one way or another.

But then again, there must be some of them who are Trump loyalists that are, in an incredible act of stupidity, resigning because Trump, who wants his loyalists defying "the establishment", is their commander after all.
